Whenever the Rangers put lines together it seems we're always looking for a nickname, and the Cullen, Ortmeyer, Prucha line is no exception.  The COP line lends itself to a number of different puns, particularly around policing and the blue theme shared by both the Rangers and of course the official police force to which the COP name makes reference.  Sure we could say the newly constituted line is helping 'arrest' the Rangers slide into oblivion, or that they have done a good job 'policing' their own end (okay maybe that one's a stretch), but one thing's for sure...we want to see more of them.

The Rangers put up their second highest offensive total of the season, scoring six goals against the struggling Bruins.  The win gave the Rangers back to back victories against teams trailing them in the standings and pushed them back into three-way tie for 7th position in the East.  The line of Prucha, Cullen and Ortmeyer provided some much needed alternative scoring for the team, with the trio scoring or contributing to each of the first four Rangers goals.  Henrik Lundqvist stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced and remains unbeaten in his career against the Bruins (5-0-0).

The 4-1 lead allowed the Rangers also to end a couple of other dubious streaks, allowing Brendan Shanahan to score a beautiful goal on a penalty shot (his first such in his career) and Michael Nylander to end a stretch of failure on the power play with the sixth goal on the night.

TURNING POINT:
Like many games before, the Rangers quickly surrendered their 1-0 lead only minutes after scoring.  Michal Rozsival made it 2-1 late in the second, but Prucha's second of the night to make the score 3-1 and chase Tim Thomas appeared to be the clincher.

GAME NOTES:
Jed Ortmeyer set a new career high for assists, picking up three tonight to give him five for the season. Ortmeyer now is just one point shy of his career high in point total of 7, which he set last season.  More amazing perhaps is that he's done it in just ten games since returning from a pulmonary embolism.  His three assists are the first time he's registered three points in an NHL game.  Ortmeyer is also a +6 since coming back, and leads all Rangers in that category over the ten games.

Brendan Shanahan scored on a short-handed penalty shot, ironically both his (and Jed Ortmeyer's) have come against the Bruins.  It was Shanahan's 1400th NHL game, and the first time he'd scored on a penalty shot in his career.

Michal Rozsival left the game early in the second period with a "light leg sprain".

The victory by the Rangers marked the first time in the 81 year history between the two teams, that the Rangers have won six straight games against the Bruins.

The Rangers had their PK streak ended at 18 straight kills when the Bruins scored on their first opportunity of the night, but more importantly they ended their streak of 27 straight power plays without a goal when Michael Nylander chipped in the 6th goal of the night.

Henrik Lundqvist is now 5-0-0 against the Bruins in his career.

For the second time this season, the Rangers recorded two short-handed goals in the same game.  The seven shorthanders the Rangers have already scored is the most since the 2002-03 season when they registered eight for the entire season.

WHO STOOD OUT:
The Prucha, Cullen, Ortmeyer line appears to be gelling quickly.  The line accounted for three of the Rangers goals last night, including a short-handed goal by Matt Cullen, and Cullen and Prucha assisted on Rozsival's game winner.

WHO DIDN'T:
Marek Malik undid some of the good work in Philadelphia with another sub-par performance, and Jaromir Jagr was quiet for much of the game.
