The trappings of youth....

To harp is pointless, but to accentuate the final point you made as the most important is, well, important. The youth movement cannot start without Lundmark, Ortmeyer, Murray, Tyutin, etc getting ICE TIME. Mark Messier receiving PK time is a joke at this point, while I would guess half of the aforementioned youth movement get their time on the PK. Development of offensive talent can only come with offensive ICE TIME.
Additionally, can we all finally point some blame towards Ted Green? He's been here the longest of any Ranger coach with the express purpose of developing the Defense. Congratulations Ted, not a one developed while the unit's play declined dramatically.
Finally, for the conspiracy theorists: All 3 Sather trades were with CANADIAN teams, while Vancouver and Calgary are rumored to be receiveing any number of Rucinsky, Simon, and Barnaby. Hmmm...
