I hope that you are right and I am wrong but in watching some of the games from opening night I saw even more areas as to why my view sadly will be correct.
You say the Rangers now have depth and I have to ask where? Is that depth the kind that will cut down on all the penalties the Rangers took last season?
Will that depth improve the overall team defense? Ask yourself why couldn't the Rangers find space for rookie players like teams that went deep into the playoffs? Watch the opening game and keep your eye on #31 for the Wild Brent Burns the 20th pick from the last draft. The kid played a solid 17 minutes including 5 minutes on the PP.
There is a difference between adding "depth" (which I say is a fancy way of saying adding bodies) and adding players who will fill roles and needs. The Rangers may look stronger on paper but paper doesn't win games.
