You are right talk is very cheap and we will see if the Rangers are going to back up all the talk. The best example of how easy it is to get fooled by the preseason is to look at the Fishie's opening game against the Caps.
The Fishies went undefeated in preseason giving up all of 8 goals in 7 games. The Caps scored 6 goals in the first 2 periods last night. I hope the Rangers see stuff like that to realize how important backing up all the talk really is.

I for one think after all this time that blaming Neil time is over. Only Leetch remains from the Smith era as every player on the roster was choosen by Slats.
I disagree though about the need for a fast start for a couple of reasons: First I think given that they are putting in a new system that it will take some time for the team to adjust to it. Second to me a fast start is more for the fans to gain confidence in the team not a real issue for the team itself. Look at the Bruins last season they got off to a fast start and had to hang on for dear life at season's end. They were a shell of a team at season's end.

Thanks for the kind word. Scary that Melrose has them in the Cup final then add Neil Smith calling them his breakthrough team as well. I don't have any confidence in their predictions.

At this point of the season really all one can do is take their best guess as to what will happen. I agree that we have to hope that I turn out to be wrong with my prediction something I will be more than happy to eat crow over.
