How would you rate the Rangers deadline?

Not bad
What were they thinking...

Previous Polls

Thursday - March 25th

With 18 days remaining until the NHL trade deadline, all is relatively quiet on the Rangers front.

Not unexpectedly, the Rangers are probably going to be minor players this time round, without much in the way of short term assets they would be looking to part with.

Clearly they would look at offers for those on short term or expiring contracts like Brendan Smith, Ryan Strome, Jack Johnson and perhaps the likes of Colin Blackwell.

There are no significant injuries to report

Brandon Dubinsky is one of several players showing great chemistry with fellow linemates.

Chemistry Is A Great Thing To Have
Posted by Jamy Baron ≡ 4:42:32 PM - September 19, 2011

It may just be training camp, but certain players have really shown up to play and have not lost a beat since April. These players include Ryan Callahan and Brandon Dubinsky. Other players have improved greatly and are displaying a high level of determination. Those players include Marian Gaborik and Wojtek Wolski.

Today, the Rangers continued their scrimmages and to no surprise, Ryan Callahan and Brandon Dubinsky clicked immediately for a goal. It was a give-and-go that ended with Callahan putting the puck past Biron. Does that remind you of another give-and-go?

This is just further evidence as to why it is necessary for the Rangers to keep the Pack Line together next season. Consensus says that Dubinsky is the best fit for the top line with Gaborik and Brad Richards, but if you think about it, the chemistry on the Pack Line is too valuable to break up. With the way Wolski is clicking with Richards and Gaborik, it may not be as big of a problem as some may think.

Wolski stated that he threw out the old Wolski and is trying to establish a new identity to stick with the Rangers. So far he has backed up his words. In the two scrimmages he has taken part in, Wolski has 3 goals and 2 assists, showing great chemistry with his linemates, Richards and Gaborik. Wolski is playing with a purpose and is showing the most effort he has ever shown before and that can turn out to be a great thing.

On the other side of the ice, Gaborik is having a good time as well. He seems to be establishing good chemistry with Richards and Wolski. Gabby scored two goals in yesterdays scrimmage and while he may have been held off of the score sheet today, he looked driven yesterday. Gaborik is back to playing with a passion.

So what does this mean? If Wolski, Richards and Gaborik can form a solid, hard working line full of chemistry, this will lead to great success for the Rangers as the Pack Line of Artem Anisimov, Ryan Callahan, and Brandon Dubinsky will stay intact. Balanced scoring is always a necessity when you are trying to bring home the Cup. After all, two lines are better than one.
