RUMOR MILL

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Captain Callahan Was Officially Introduced to the Garden Faithful

First Impressions Are Deceiving....................
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 3:11:43 PM - October 28, 2011

I was fortunate enough to attend the "Opening" of the Transformed Garden last night and the Garden was just like the Rangers, at first glance full of promise like the first period but overall more like the final outcome, somewhat of a letdown.  Getting to the Garden was full of anticipation for the Rangers Faithful, and when walking into the lobby you could already see a little difference with the box office looking alittle different. Going up the escalators where there were all new entrances to old and new sections. All fans were given an opening night Ranger Blue T-shirt. The fans seemed ready to explode just for the introduction of the players.

The Rangers player announcements were in Rangers fashion--adding to the feel of the Transformed Garden. When Henrik and Captain Callahan were announced the fans were the loudest. Then the lights came on and the game began. The first Rangers first goal in this first phase of Trasformation was by Girardi and Henrik stopped Kessel on two breakaways. Those where the highlights of the game on the Rangers end. Del Zotto and Anisimov were directly responsible for goals against. Henrik, admittedly, was not sharp and let in 2 goals he should have had. The Rangers are now 3-3-2 and the sky is NOT falling. The Rangers will right themselves and still be a top flight team in the Eastern Conference.

The Transformed Garden shows alot of promise. I attended it with my family and sat behind the Rangers goal in the 300 section area. It is a brand new section and the sightline was awesome and the front row actually had 19" flat screens for every two seats. We walked around and saw some great new things like the bar upstairs that you can sit on barstools and watch the game in an open area. While walking around the arena you can see the game in some areas from the concourse. You can walk around the concources withouth banging into people as they are much wider. The MAJOR problem so far is that there really weren't any food places open. That part is supposed to be done by December by what the workers say. Once this is done, the Garden experience will be great.

Ranger fans grew upset as the game went on with the product on the ice and the lines they had to deal with off the ice. Overall fans, both are an easy fix. Now Garden Brass, get it done.

Don't expect to see Marc Staal or Mike Rupp anytime soon. Neither are skating again today.
