The Rangers have finally made the move that was expected for a few weeks. Michael DelZotto was dealt from New York to Nashville for Kevin Klein. Klein is a 6'-1" 200 lb. right side defenseman that the Rangers needed now that they realized that DelZotto could not play the right side which forced John Moore to play there on his offside. Now this trade addresses the need on the Rangers defense and sets up 3 sets of the normal 1 offensive and 1 defensive player per pair. The pairs will now look like Ryan McDonagh/Dan Girardi, Marc Staal/Anton Stralman, and John Moore/Kevin Klein.
The Rangers now seem to have the pieces needed to make a solid playoff run although that can change with any injury on the roster players. The Rangers need to know what they will do with their free agents like Ryan Callahan, Dan Girardi, etc.. There may be more moves coming...... Stay tuned!
Look at hockeyfights.com and you will see that Klein will also drop the gloves and can hold his own in doing it. That is also something the Rangers needed and he is signed until 2018 at a caphit of $2.9 million per.
