RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Game 1 was a 3 pointer for Brad Richards

Game 1 In The Books-Rangers WIN
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 3:35:22 PM - April 18, 2014

Brad Richards may have lost a step and may not be able to give 100% during the 82 game regular season, but he was brought into the Rangers organization for his key post season play. This regular season, Richards had a bounce back season(20 goals-31 asiist 51 points) and showed why the Rangers organization showed faith in Broadway Brad by not buying him out this offseason. Brad Richards and Derek Stepan scored in Game #1 only 47 seconds apart during a 4 minute powerplay after Carl Hagelin took a stick to the face from Jason Akeson of the Flyers. Richards' friend and summertime workout partner Martin St. Louis, added 2 assists in his first playoff game with the Rangers in which the Rangers powerplay worked so well that it will make teams think twice before taking any liberties with the Rangers key players.

The Rangers went down 1-0 on an Andrew MacDonald goal after a huge hit on Ryan McDonagh by Scott Hartnell in the 1st, after the Rangers started the game off controlling the play.  The Rangers answered back with a goal by Mats Zuccarello. Going into the 3rd, the game was tied at 1-1 until the 2 powerplay goals with 47 seconds, both assisted by St. Louis giving the Rangers a 3-1 lead. Then Carl Hagelin did more than sacrafice his face by scoring a goal to secure the win. Henrik Lundqvist was only called upon to save 14 shots after the 1st shot on goal got past him. Ray Emery is a solid goalie but he lets up alot of rebounds compared to Steve Mason who looks like will be starting game #2 on Easter afternoon looking to even up the series at 1 apiece taking away the home advantage from the Rangers heading back to Philadelphia.

This Rangers team seems like a good matchup with Philadelphia as all 4 lines play well against their opponents, while the Rangers defense and goaltending easily give the Rangers the advantage in this series. The Ranger mantra seems to be they are a 23+ man team with no passengers but all drivers, while everyone knowing each of their jobs and taking each game a shift at the time. If these Rangers stick to that role and live up to each of their talent, these Rangers just might be able to achieve something we haven't seen at MSG since 1994!

LET'S GO RANGERS!!
