RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Henrik is the King of Game #7's

4 Down, 12 To Go
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 5:16:26 PM - May 2, 2014

The Rangers played their ame 7 on home ice just as expected! The Rangers top players showed up and played to their roles while The King Henrik Lundqvist played his best game of the series in leading the Rangers to another Game 7 win at MSG extending their unbeaten streak. They move on now to play the Pittsburgh Penguins for the right to play in the Eastern Conference finals. This actually could be a better matchup for the Rangers than the Flyers as an open style game is when the Rangers are at their best.

Henrik Lundqvist is always at his best when he has to focus and be his best against the top players in the league. Well, The King should have no problem with the likes of Cindy Crosby and Malkin on the opposite side of the ice. The Rangers didn't get any calls last series and even took a few "embellishment" calls in which the refs thought the Rangers willingfully smushed their faces into the dashboard and glass to get a call, totally ridiculous but you have to play around those types of things. The scheduling for this series is rough as the Rangers just had back to back games against the Flyers, had a day off, play tonight have a day off and then another set of back to backs. That is 5 games in 7 days which is crazy for the playoffs, but this can be taken as a positive once the Rangers take a split of the first 2 games in Pittsburgh and get take home ice advantage.

It was nice to finally see Rick Nash show up and play in these playoffs. This matchup with Pittsburgh will show if the Rangers should keep Nash as a building block or trade him away for someone that is a playoff performer. Brad Richards is doing the things he brought in to do and his buddy Martin St. Louis is being his stellar self. You would expect Derek Stepan to look better now that Nash has shown up and is willing to do what is needed to be successful by playing hard on the boards and getting to the front of the net. I am still not sure that Nash hasn't been playing with some sort of injury to his leg/groin area as it really looks like he has no "drive" in his legs. Look for Frodo from Modo Mats Zuccarello to have a great series as this is a great matchup for him and his linemates. On defense, you know that Ryan McDonagh and Dan Girardi will be seeing the most time against the Crosby/ Malkin line and if they keep them to minimal damage, that leads to a huge advantage to the Rangers!

Game one tonight in Pittsburgh and it will be a hockey friendly crowd that should be loud! It won't be like the blood thirsty criminals in Philly that assault opposing fans, but it should be just as loud!!!  LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!!!
