RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Hockey IS A Game of Inches

The Rangers hit 2 posts and a crossbar, which at any time would have changed the momentum of the game. The Blueshirts seemed to have better chances on the powerplay with Rafeal Diaz at the point which added an element that was needed. J.T. Miller gave the Rangers more jump than Derek Dorsett was able to bring the Rangers. The one problem was the benching of Dan Carcillo for Jesper Fast although Fast tok one for the team by taking that stick to the face for a 4 minute powerplay. The issue still stands that the Rangers are not getting the puck past Penguins goalie Fluery. The Rangers are due to get some "puck luck" and it better come soon or they will be joining the 22 teams already on the golf courses.

I have been very hard on Rick Nash on this blog because he was brought in to score and be a big power forward, and although he has scored in the regular season, he dissapears when the Rangers need him the most, in the playoffs. If Nash is hurt, he needs to sit out because this version of Rick Nash we have seen so far in these playoffs is not worth the huge price of admission for the playoffs. The last game that Nash had been fun to watch was the game against Columbus where he played like he is supposed to and even got into a fight. Rick Nash needs to be playing not only all out for his teammates and the fans of the Rangers, but he needs to have to play well just to stay in New York. Here is a great idea, if Nash doesn't play better and worth his $7.8 million cap hit, trade him to play with his buddy Joe Thorton in San Jose(who needs a total makeover after another failure in the playoffs), and get back a player that will play the Rangers type of hockey and go to the tough areas and not just be a perimeter player.

If the contract for Henrik Lundqvist with the Rangers was like a marriage, then Lundqvist could sue for lack of support in this round against the Penguins. The King has played as well as an elite goalie can play. The Rangers defense has done a solid job except for the occassional breakdown in which Lundqvist has mostly been able to make the save. The problem is in the forwards. I feel sorry for Martin St. Louis as he has been stuck on a line with Dissapeared Nash and Nowhere Stepan. Stepan has taken a step back in this years playoffs and is showing he may not be the #1 centerman that can lead the Rangers to the next level.

Now, in saying all of this, the Rangers are only down 2 games to 1 and are due to get some puck luck going their way. The Rangers now have a day to rest up and relax while getting their heads ready for a back against the wall type of game. The Rangers only thoughts now are getting back to Pittsburgh with the series tied at 2-2.

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!!
