RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Backs Against The Wall
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 9:18:49 AM - May 8, 2014

The Rangers played an O.K. game, but this is the second round of the playoffs against league poster child Sidney Crosby and the rest of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but "O.K." just isn't good enough in the playoffs! With the prices of tickets going through the roof, every fan at The Worlds Most Famous Arena that laid out the big bucks expects and deserves that every player they are paying to see is giving 110%. So put on your big boy pants Mr. Nash because your inept play deserves for you to be BOOED!!! If you are injured, sit out because you are not helping with your perimeter play. You were brought into New York to be a POWER forward and to go into the "hard areas" that you haven't stepped into in weeks. Brad Richards backs up Rick Nash's whining by saying it affects everyone in the lockerroom, and Lord knows he should know how it feels after his situation last year. Under Tortorella, this team was tough minded with a common goal and now that they have traded/let go the "heart and soul" players such as Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky, and Brandon Prust who would never let this team play heartless and the Rangers are left with players that forced their way out of their cities in the likes of Rick Nash and Martin St. Louis. Even players like Benoit Pouliot that were headcases in their careers, the Rangers are giving them a try.  This Rangers team is unraveling as all of these personalities are now clashing in the hard times of the playoffs and there is nobody to take charge in the lockeroom this season. Sure, the team had a closed door meeting after they have now gone down 3 games to 1, but where is that fire on the ice. By all the whining to the press, I could see the closed door meeting was probably about how the fans don't deserve the hard work they are putting in, instead of how they need to play harder, make their own puck luck, and give the fans a great effort that these loyal fans deserve!

With the Rangers needing a big win going into game #4 down 2 games to 1, the Rangers needed to leave it all on the ice. Every player needed to get to the front of the net and take away Pens goalie Fluery's vision. On defense, they needed to error on the side of caution as they have played alot of hockey, 6 games over the last 9 days. What they put on the ice was nothing like that gameplan. When they used the middle, they scored the goals by Carl Hagelin (who faked like he was going to make a move to the boards and the Pens defenseman went for the fake because it is how they have played all series) and  Mats Zuccarello's goal with a Ranger in front and his backhand shot from between the faceoff dots. Chris Kreider played his first game of the playoffs and played as well as could be expected shaking off the rust on his first few shifts. The Rangers just didn't do enough to compete and win such a vital game and now face elimination.

Everyone has talked about using the 2nd "free" buyout on Brad Richards, but with Rick Nash having a NMC and not being a playoff performer while crumbling when the fans let him know of their unhappiness with his poor performance, the question is should the Rangers use it on Nash instead? Should the Rangers keep Brad Richards and have him practice all summer with Martin St. Louis and Ryan Haggerty again all this summer and let them form a bond and a line for next year? Do you resign any or all of the "free agent line" of Mats Zuccarrello-Derek Brassard-Benoit Pouliot? Do you try to move Derek Stepan, who hopefully is playing hurt because his game has bottomed out? DO you move Marc Staal this summer or trade for one of his brothers for him to stay?

There are alot of questions that will have to be answered once this season is over and the Rangers fans are hoping that these questions won't have to be answered for a few more weeks. Now it's up to see if the Rangers PLAYERS show the same HEART that truthfully seems to be missing. This team has ALOT of TALENT, but seems to lack in LEADERSHIP and HEART! Backs are against the wall Rangers....... Pull up your Big Boy Pants and get it DONE!!

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!
