RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Can the Rangers talk Skjei into turning Pro?

Where will Rangers spend???
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 12:06:14 PM - July 1, 2014

The Rangers have said that Rangers prospect and draft pick Brady Skjei is ready to turn pro but it seems the young player would rather play one more season at the University of Minnesota, It sounds very similar to what Ryan McDonagh said while he was attending Wisconsin University but after attending the Rangers prospect camp and Traverse City Tournament, the Rangers were able to persuade McDonagh to sign and turn pro with a contract of roughly $1.3 mil per for 3 years that showed as a smaller cap hit due to signing and performance bonus'.

If Skjei is actually NHL ready, that will change the hunting for todays free agents and would help with the decision to let Anton Stralman walk away to the highest bidder. It looks like Brian Boyle  and Benoit Pouliot will also leave for greener(money green) pastures. Good Luck to them and Thanks for a great season and putting it all on the line for the Blueshirts.

The Rangers could be looking for a defensive dman, a faceoff specialist, and a tough guy to protect the players of higher skill level. Players such as Thorton from Boston, Boyle from San Jose, and David Legwand are the type of players that would fit those needs.

ENJOY CANADA DAY AND LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
