RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

CAPTAIN McDONAGH
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 9:42:32 PM - October 6, 2014

It was made official that the New York Rangers have named Ryan McDonagh the Rangers captain for the 2014-2015 season.  The alternate captains this season will be Marc Staal (still unsigned but with him being named an assistant it would seem like he should sign any day), Derek Stepan, and Martin St. Louis. McDonagh is the third straight American Captain in the New York Rangers organization following Chris Drury and Ryan Callahan.

The Rangers made room for Anthony Duclair to start opening night on the NHL roster by trading Steven Kampfer and Andrew Yogan to the Florida Panthers for ex-Ranger draftee Joey Crabb who will go directly to Hartford and play in the AHL this season.

With nobody taking Mike Kostka, Matt Lombardi, or Steven Kampfer off the waiver wire; the Rangers put Chris Mueller on waivers. Rangers coach Alain Vigneault stated on the Rangers website that if Mueller makes it through the waiver wire that it didn't necessarily mean he was going to be sent to Hartford and could start the season with the Rangers.

The Rangers are rumored to still be looking for a center to help out in the top 9 forwards. After putting Derek Stepan on Long Term Injury, the Rangers have roughly $2.3 million that they can go over the cap according the Capgeek.com. The Rangers coach stated that there are still a few options that the Rangers are contemplating "a few options".

An 8:30 pm Monday night announcement of the new Captain was a big surprise and there could still be one more on the horizon!

Let's Go Rangers!!!!!
