Ryan McDonagh said the series wasn't over and proved it with his overtime Game Winning Goal
|

The Rangers have been playing with hesitation all series and have not played with the life they showed during their regular season President Trophy as the NHL's best team, or as intense as they were in a 1st round series win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. This series, the Rangers have seemed slow and hesitant to get hit by the bigger but not as talented Washington Capitals. Maybe it took the Rangers to look up at the clock and see elimination facing them to get their all out effort to score going. All series they have looked for the perfect pass to score , but they finally screened the Washington goalie and they scored the equalizer and winning overtime goal to stay alive to play Game 6 in Washington on Mothers Day Sunday at 7pm.
The Rangers core came up big to extend this series to a 6th game with goalie Henrik Lundqvist playing an outstanding game as he usually does when facing elinination. Derek Stepan played great at both ends of the ice and made a perfect stop and small drop pass to Ryan McDonagh that allowed him to one time a shot pass Caps goalie Holtby and sending the Garden Faithful home hoping for another game 7 to be played at MSG. First, the Rangers will need to do exactly what they did to score the two goals in game 5 as Chris Kreider tied the game at 1-1 with a blast of a one timer through the legs of Washington dman Orpik and scoring glove side. They nees to get to the front of the net and take away the Caps goalies eyes. The Rangers need to stop looking for the perfect shot and just throw the puck at the net and crash the crease, the same way that other teams do to them.
Brian Boyle and Rick Nash still seem to be playing injured or just worn out. Martin St. Louis actually was involved in game 5 and took a few one timers that he is famous for, even though he missed the net. The Rangers are in the part of the season where they have to take it shift by shift and take care of each assignment and each matchup. The Rangers are already playing with the pressure of elimination and are desperate but now in Game 6 the Caps will also be desperate because there is NO WAY that they want to go back to MSG for a Game 7 where the Garden Faithful will be emotionally uplifting for the Blueshirt players.
Also, at tonights game they showed Mats Zuccarello in the teams seats and he looked pretty good. It is said on twitter that he has been at the Rangers Training Facility riding the bike and taking tests. If the Rangers get to Game 7 could it be possible that Zuccarello could play? If he passes all the test and isn't suffering from concusion systems, why not. SO expect Game 6 to be crazy as Washington will be playing with their backs against the wall just like the Rangers will.
SO Rangers fans, enjoy having a Captain that stated "this series is far from over" and scored the game winner in overtime to back up his words. Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there and enjoy your day as I expect that all Ranger households will be glued to the television that night! LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
