RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

The Rangers will be without Stepan for 4-6 weeks

Rangers Problems Showing
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 1:17:04 PM - November 30, 2015

UPDATE: The Rangers have started off strong with 2 POWERPLAY GOALS!!!! Dan Boyle has an assist on both goals! Kevin Klein was injured early in the game having only played 2:22 in the first period with a "muscle strain" per MSG's Al Trautwig.

Jayson Megna has been recalled from Hartford. Jayson can play center or the wings and was leading the Wolfpack in scoring over the 21 games played with 5 goals and 7 assists).

********************************************************************************************

The Rangers now will be without Derek Stepan for 4-6 weeks due to the cheapshot delivered by Beleskey in Boston. The hit not only went unpenalized during the game for a late hit (which MSG Network showed that it was by the NHL rulebook), but the NHL Disciplinary office showed they are not Rangers fans by doing nothing. The Rangers might now have to address their problems on the powerplay and on the defense now instead of closer to the trade deadline because of this injury. Stepan not only was the 2nd line center, he was also on the 1st powerplay untit that has been terrible this season.

The Rangers gave up alot last season to get Keith Yandle to quarterback their powerplay by trading a #1 pick, Anthony Duclair, John Moore and a few other pieces that went both ways. The Rangers coaching staff is using Keith Yandle as a 3rd line dman and on the 2ND powerplay unit. It's either they use him for what they brought him in to do, or they should trade him away before they lose him this summer for nothing. There is no way that the Rangers are going to pay him over $5 million a year caphit as a dman that is stuck behind Ryan McDonagh and Marc Staal. Something has to give, and it would be smart for General Manager Jeff Gorton to make the move sooner than later. If you package Yandle and a player like J.T. Miller, that should bring back a player that will fill the Rangers needs. Is a Marc Staal moving going to happen?? Only if he chooses to go duw to his NMC. There is no way the Rangers will trade their Captain Ryan McDonagh who is signed for 2 more years. Hey coach, either play him or trade him.

The talk of Eric Staal, Partick Marleau, James Van Reimsdyk  etc. could all be done with Yandle as a part of the deal. The Rangers need to find out who on the defensive end is in next years plans, and whoever isn't, move them for the needed pieces that fit to make the powerplay work and the defense set for the future. Dylan McIlrath has proven he can play in the NHL and adds something that the Rangers need in the lineup every night but is a clear 7th dman so far this year. It would seem impossible to deal to dump Dan Boyle on someone with his caphit and NMC, so it may be that the Rangers have to just play this season out and see how it all comes out.

It's clear that the Rangers are looking to add Pavel Buchnevich from the KHL once the season ends at the end of February. That could easily address the secondary scoring the Ranger are in need of as he is lighting up the KHL this season. The Rangers are also hoping that Brady Skjei learns the Rangers sytem quick enough to make a statement in the NHL this season.

It would seem that both Keith Yandle and Dan Boyle should be put into an opportunity to excel for what they were brought in to do, and that was to quarterback the powerplay. If not, either deal them or sit them ion the stands because it would seem that the Rangers could easily have other 3rd line dmen in the system already!!

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!! GET IT TOGETHER!!
