RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Dumped to the 4th line....WTF?

A.V. 's Getting Warm
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 1:36:13 PM - October 19, 2017

The Rangers have acquired Red Wing defenseman Ryan Sproul. Ryan Sproul is a 24 year old, 6-4 205 pound dman. The price for Sproul was Rangers winger Matt Puempel. For a Rangers organization that seems set at the NHL and AHL level, this seems to be a piece towards a bigger move.

*********************************************************************************

The Rangers had their summer meetings with all the bras throughout the organization and then drastic changes came....Stepan, and Raanta were moved to Arizona, Girardi was bought out, three RFA's weren't tendered to keep their rights in Pirri, Clendening, and Skapski, along with many "prospects being cut loose because they weren't demed as prospects for the Rangers. Kevin Shattenkirk was brought in to play with Captain McDonagh, Smith was resigned on the defense, DeAngelo was part of the Stepan trade so the defense was supposed to be strong. Well, the Rangers G.M. Gorton did his job of getting the pieces asked for, but A.V. is clearly having issues putting all the pieces in the right places and is trying to force a square peg into a round hole.....just doesn't work.

The problem actually started in the preseason where the coach always puts 2 NHL guys together with a minor leauger to see how they'll do and where they stand in the RAngers organization. Problem then is that when the season starts, you can't complain like he did in a post game interview that "It seems like there is 1 guy on every line that is just off". Well coach, there IS! Give them a chance to jell together and don't dump Pavel Buchnevich to the 4th line.... hell, for the 1st 2 games the line with him Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanajeb was on fire! Every other line is off so you break up the 1 line working...seriously??? On paper, this team is faster and more skilled than last years but the problem is above their shoulders. They lost the leadership of Stepan, Girardi and the confidence of Raanta being between the pipes when The King is off. It seems that their leadership was a bigger loss than expected.

Deshardins as our 2nd line center???REALLY?? How about putting J.T. Miller in the middle?? Wasn't that the plan until Filip Chytil was doing so good that the Rangers let Lias Andersson fo back to Sweden(still counting as an NHL contract so he can come back at any time) and then A.V. sent Chytil down to the AHL for more grooming(hopefully). Ranger fans know that A.V. loves to hold onto players like Glass, Girardi instead of playing Skjei and Pirri/Puempel. ANd how about the whole 11 forwards and 7 defenseman???? In A.V.'s wisdom, the Rangers don't have 12 NHL forwards???? Kampfer and Holden are better than Smith(who was just signed this summer for over $4 million per year) and DeAngelo (who was a must as part of the Stepan/Raanta deal).

The only thing that the Rangers fanbase can be praying for is that some of the players that have been playing in this 1-5-1 start are being shown as a showcase for a trade. I get it that guys like Kampfer and Holden have to go through waivers and might get taken. Would that really hurt us as much as them being in the lineup? Does Marc Staal really deserve to be on the 1st line of defense? It seemed like it made sense that Staal would babysit DeAngelo on the 3rd pairing since Staal wasn't bought out and Girardi was.

With all the craziness in this poor start, A.V. has got to feel some heat with these bad choices of players, lines, and demotions with Lindy Ruff standing right next to him behind the bench.  It seems that the players have stopped listening to A.V., whether it's choices of getting rid of certain players that were the heart of the team or just a new system is needed with this group of players. The Rangers race up the ice and have an odd man rush to only circle back and throw the puck to the point who is now a forward since the dman was in the rush.

Let's put Miller at center and bring up Chytil...Cracknell is not the answer. Put the K-Z-B line back together! Let Hayes and Vesey play together since they trained all summer together and know each others play, and add Nash for a huge and talented line . Miller with Zuccarello and Grabner would be fast and smart. Fast-Desharnais-Carey line is our lunchbox worker line.  Put McDonagh-Shattenkirk to gether!! Skjei and Smith and Staal babysitting DeAngelo. Give them time with those lines and let's get this season going!!!  With or WITHOUT A.V. behind the bench!

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!
