RUMOR MILL

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Rugged Winger, Micheal Haley has been placed on waivers

Haley Clears Waivers
Posted by Toby Ivey ≡ 1:50:56 PM - November 18, 2019

Yesterday the Rangers placed Micheal Haley on waivers, and he cleared today at noon eastern time. While he has not yet been reassigned to Hartford, it seems only a matter of time before the team makes the move and takes him off the roster.

The initial reprieve is probably only due to Mika Zibanejad remainig out for Wednesday's game, as well as the pending return of Kaapo Kakko, who has missed the past two games with the flu.

Signed out of training camp, Haley was a somewhat surprising late addition to the Rangers team, who used him in 10 of the 18 games of the season, resulting in a goal and forty penatly minutes. Initially a some time player who faced more physical opposition teams, he has been pushed into duty on a more frequent basis due to injuries and illness.

With less than six minutes of ice time a game, he saw little playing time as David Quinn looked reluctant to put his fourth line out with any regularity. It didn't help that the Rangers were trailing or in tight situations on most equations, and it further hurt their chances when the line gave up goals, something that happened probably more often than it should.

p>At this stage he perhaps could get a game or two more as the Rangers get healthy, but his long term prospects with the team seem limited at best.
