Do you bring back Jesper Fast?

Previous Polls

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Jesper Fast 8/1
Took a shoulder on the first shift of the game and left the ice soon after
Igor Shesterkin 8/1
Per Joe Micheletti, Sheshterkin is expected to be available Monday
Micheal Haley 2/14
Scheduled for surgery and could miss the remainder of the season

Jagr the Key
Posted by Daniel Akeson ≡ - April 7, 2008

I know it's been a while for me over here at Outside The Garden, but if you've checked out my other blog,, you know it's been a busy couple months from The Hockey News to a new site design.

But rest assured, I have not forgotten about OTG!

Now that the playoffs are set, there is one player who will be integral in any success the Rangers have and no it's not Chris Drury or Henrik Lundqvist.

Yes both of those players are going to be important for the Rangers and any hockey fan knows that goaltending wins championships, but the Rangers have an X-factor in Jaromir Jagr.

Amidst controversy all season about his lack of scoring, desire to retire, meeting with Russians during the playoff push, Jagr has done a lot of subtle things that have gone unnoticed.

Jagr back checked as much as any forward all season, something that shows his desire to buy into Head Coach Tom Renney's system, despite it not playing into his game.

Jagr has been physical, if you watched the last couple games you've seen it as much as ever. Again, his commitment to this team shows that he is trying to find ways to contribute even if the puck isn't finding the net.

However, now the puck is finding the net for Jagr and he took over the lead for goals scored this season as well as points on the final day of the season. Not too shabby for a guy who everyone thought was washed up.

This has also meant a significantly better power play, even though it couldn't get much worse, led by the Captain. Better puck movement, shots on net, and even some work on the crease.

Don't be fooled, Jagr recognizes the importance of this season, perhaps his last hurrah at a Stanley Cup opportunity and understands his role. If he can keep it going, the Rangers will be a deadly force throughout the playoffs.

Few players in the league can dictate a game like Jagr can and I think he has a lot left in the tank.
