RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Thanks Sather, But It Would Seem you Have To Go
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ - February 10, 2009

A team that doesn't have it's General manager and their Coach on the same page is a team that is destined to fail. This summer, the Rangers organization all seemed to be on the same page when they decided to let Jagr go to Russia and Shanahan just wait around while letting the Rangers know he would work for almost free. Well as the "dog days" of February are here, either Sathers "Quick moving Puck Control" players or Renneys "Defense First System" are on a 5 game losing streak and seem to have given up on their coach. Anyone that thinks Jagr on the Rangers compared to Redden on the Rangers at 6.5 mil wouldn't be better, hasn't followed the Rangers the last 3 years. And with the cap hit the Rangers have for Jagr THIS YEAR, that would have been enough for Potter(and $200,00 extra) to fill the roster.

The players Sather brought in do not match up with coach Renney's system. Renney is a good coach for young players and the Rangers are one of the youngest in the league(average age is 26.3) with Potter on roster. Renney has used "Joba Rules" with some players such as Staal,Dubinsky, and Callahan while overplaying vets Kalinin,Voros,Redden, and Drury. The younger players at least play with some life. The Rangers knew that there would be some issues playing with a young team, but Renney and Sather have got to TALK TO EACH OTHER!!!! Either get the players for the system OR CHANGE THE SYSTEM!!

Sather brought in( and kept on the roster by Renney) some players that NEVER had a chance to play as a Ranger on a regular basis this year. Rissmiller, Fritsche, Prucha, and Dawes have eaten up almost 3 million dollars in cap space while only playing a total of 84 man games with Dawes leading in minutes per game at around 12. So it would seem either the GM or Coach have to go. Right now, the players don't seem to play for Renney. Problem is, seems like Sather isn't doing ANYTHING about it! SO, if the players love Renney as they say, and Renney doesn't have the players to make his system work, then maybe it is time for a change at the top, and that is the Hall of Famer Glen Sather.
