RUMOR MILL

Tuesday - October 25th

Either Josh Jooris (New York Daily News) or Dylan McIlrath are likely to find themselves on waivers when Pavel Buchnevich returns from back spasms.

The team is expected to cut the roster down to 22 players, and as such one of the two will need to be either moved or sent down.

OTG Notebook: September 23
Posted by Toby Ivey ≡ - September 23, 2008

The Rangers evened up their preseason record with a 2-1 win over the Senators last night at MSG. Petr Nedved and Lauri Korpikoski scored the goals, as the Rangers dominated play, but were unable to convert many opportunities.

Henrik Lundqvist was perfect through two periods, and played down stories about his knees, saying he's fine. Matt Zaba came in, in the third period and let in the solitary Senators goal.

The game marked the debut of the projected topline for the Rangers of Nikolai Zherdev, Scott Gomez and Markus Naslund. While the trio didn't score, they did dominate the play in the offensive zone. Wade Redden and Dmitri Kalinin also made their first preseason starts, with Redden's influence on the power play already evident. Redden did get burned on a two on one for the Senators goal, while Kalinin had a relatively quiet game, but got called for hooking when he attempted to stop a breakaway.

Articles today include one on Korpikoski from the Daily News, another on Redden from The Journal News and these three with reports of the game: Ottawa Sun, National Post and Canadian Press.

The Rangers also announced the signing of another 2008 draft pick (their third) Evgeny Gravchev.
