RUMOR MILL

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Evening Update

Mark Bell has been reassigned to Hartford, probably in anticipation that the Rangers will welcome back Sean Avery tomorrow. Avery was placed on re-entry waivers by the Dallas Stars at 12:00pm today, and the Rangers will find out at noon tomorrow if they are now proud owners of the "Grate One".

Morning Update

Not much in the papers today, as we wait for the craziness to unfold before the trade deadline Wednesday. The Rangers of course don't play until Thursday, so whatever changes that will be made, will be based on the what we've seen to date.

One change that seems highly likely is the addition of Sean Avery off of re-entry waivers. The Dallas Stars are set to put him on there today, and tomorrow we'll find out if he's been claimed. I don't normally comment on headlines, but Newsday seems to like this one having now used it twice in the last three days.

Whether Avery can capture the success he had last time around when veterans like Brendan Shanahan helped keep him in check is anyone's guess at this point. The Grate One seems determined to derail his own career, though he was relatively well behaved under Tom Renney's guidance.
