RUMOR MILL

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Henrik continues his DOMINATION of Broduer

The King SHUTS OUT Fatso and his Devils
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 11:51:25 PM - March 30, 2009

Henrik Lundqvist again showed all hockey fans why the Rangers should be feared by all when the playoffs start. The King has an overall lifetime record of 18-6-4 record against "Fatso" the Devils goalie. What most hockey fans as a rule of measure for goalies(since Brodeur is the current wins leader--aided by 37 overtime wins that Roy was not capable of getting), means that the student is better than the teacher head to head.

ALL goalies from here on in should have an asterick next to their names in the record book due to the overtime wins. Like Broduer for the wins, THE KING will also have an asterick next to his name as he will enter the NHL record books as the ONLY goalie to have 30+ wins in his first 4 seasons.

Tonights 3-0 win just showed how Lundqvist gets charged up to play against "Fatso"(as he was named by Avery last year). The Rangers have split the season series this year, BUT beat Broduer in ALL 3 games he played in. With that split, the Rangers have won another "Hummers Sponsored Challenge" although they tied last year with the Islanders. The devils showed how they can be taken out of the game by a single player in Sean Avery and let the skill of Lundqvist take over the game.

Marty seems happy to have achieved the record and now is playing like the older, slower, and off balanced goalie that he now is by losing 5 in a row. Since Broduer has gotten back between the pipes the Devils have gone back to that defensive system to protect his weakness of side to side under control and high on his stickside. Clemmensen played with the Devils playing an offensive type game in which he did terrific. Rangers fans are glad to see Broduer back as the Rangers know they have his number since the return of hockey from the season long strike four years ago.

Sather seems to have made some great moves by making the coaching change to the offensive style of Tortorella, adding Avery(at over $1 million less than they offered him last summer), and trading for Antropov and Morris. A first round matchup vs the Devils and Broduer is something that Rangers fans have to like and one the Devils and Broduer better watch for.
