Either Josh Jooris (New York Daily News) or Dylan McIlrath are likely to find themselves on waivers when Pavel Buchnevich returns from back spasms.

The team is expected to cut the roster down to 22 players, and as such one of the two will need to be either moved or sent down.

Rangers Take Commanding 3-1 Lead
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 10:58:43 PM - April 22, 2009

The Rangers took a commanding 3 games to 1 lead over the Caps as Lundqvist has been the difference. The Rangers came out strong in game 4 and the Rangers Faithful roared with approval. The Rangers started the game off by giving Ovechkin, Backstrom, Green, and company no room to make plays. Henrik started his highlight reel game at 10:42 with great saves and killing off a powerplay. Caps goalie Valamov answered back with a right pad save on Zherdev. Rangers got the 1st goal off a great faceoff win by Dubinsky back to Mara for a slapshot that deflected in off a Caps stick.

The Rangers got their 2nd goal in the 2nd period as Korpikoski crashed the net and fedd Drury for a soft shot lifted over the goalies pad. Lundqvist stopped the Caps from answering right away with two great saves on a penalty kill. The King then made a "sick glove save" on Semin. At around the 17th minute, Avery layed out Green with a clean hit. As the Rangers leave the ice at the end of the 2nd period with a 2-0 lead, the crowd is just going crazy. Dubinsky starts off the 3rd period going 13-2 on faceoffs so far.

Washigton scores on Ovechkin's 1st goal of the series. Seems as if Zherdev is being skipped but is on the bench. Rangers playing defensively, sort of like what cost Renney his job. Rangers have a great opportunity to score, but is stopped by defenseman Poti twice. Avery goes over the edge twice, but his team lead by Lundqvist (38 saves)bail him out with 2 great penaly kills. The Rangers stay off the Caps and take a 3-1 series lead. The Rangers are lifting their sticks at center ice to thank an awesome crowd tonight.

Rangers introduced Long Island native and Hobey Baker Award winner Matt Gilroy, who chose the Rangers over many teams that offered him contracts. It helped that he played for coach Tortorella when he played for team USA and received calls from the coach and Captain Drury to bring him to N.Y.

Ex-Ranger 1st line center Nylander(at over 4.8 million against cap per year) healthy scratch again for the Capitals.
