RUMOR MILL

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Marian Gaborik is ready to play for the Rangers

Gaborik Ready To Go
Posted by Toby Ivey ≡ 8:38:21 AM - July 12, 2009

The New York Post caught up with the Rangers latest signing: Marian Gaborik. Gaborik spent last week vacationing in Italy, but is currently in town to check out to search for an apartment. The 27 year old winger admits the move is going to be a big change, after having played his entire career to date with the Minnesota Wild under coach Jacques Lemaire.

Still, it sounds as if he's confident he'll have success, though it was interesting to note that he mentioned he preferred a center who can set him up in the open, something the Rangers lack with their current roster of centermen. Brandon Dubinsky and Chris Drury aren't noted passers, while the likes of Artem Anisimov, Tyler Arnason and Brad Boyle are more inclined to battle for the final two center spots than the spot alongside Gaborik.

Up in Boston, the Boston Globe has a pretty good article on the Rangers' first pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft: Chris Kreider. Kredier talks to the paper about the recently held Prospect Development Camp, and says it was the toughest camp he's been through. The 18 year old also admitted there were times where he felt a little out of depth, particularly defensively, but he'll get the chance to work on that with his transition to Boston College this Fall.

A couple of stories from yesterday...

Andrew Gross writes in The Bergen Record that this off-season looks to be one of high-risk/high-reward, pointing out that both Gaborik and Chris Higgins missed significant ice time last year.

Leslie Treff puts together a pretty good overview of the 2009 Rangers draft picks for Hockeys Future. Treff attended part of the Prospect Development Camp and has some additional notes about a handful of the players.
