RUMOR MILL

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE!!!!!!!!!!

SATHER--WHERE ARE YOU????
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 10:47:54 AM - December 17, 2009

Everyone who has read my blogs knows that I am usually positive when it comes to the Rangers. Well this year, even I have had ENOUGH! Sather has put together a good drafting corp but what is the sense of having good young players when you have big money deadbeats like Drury, Redden, Rozsival, Kotalik, and Brashear taking up time and roster spots from them?

The BIG offeason move was getting a sniper that was needed last year when Gaborik was signed in July. BUT instead of trading/buying out/or sending to the minors players such as Redden,Drury,Rozsival; he trades the PLAYMAKER in Gomez and overpays for Kotalik. So last year we had a playmaker with no sniper and this year we have the sniper but nobody to get him the puck. Sather refuses to go to Dolan and admit he screwed up by overpaying for players that just can't play the system of the coach that he brought in to save the franchise. The coach has even spoken out about how screwed up the back-up goaltending position is. Is that really the problem? This team looks like the Keystone cops right now.

If the Rangers had kept Gomez and gotten rid of 1 bad player of the top 3 (that I mentioned above) and didn't sign Kotalik, the cap hit would be less combining any of the 3 and Kotalik. The top line would have been Prospal(who became a Ranger ONLY beacause of the coach)-Gomez-Gaborik. That line would have been alot more entertaining than whatever combination they have out there now. The second line could have been(and could still be) Avery--Dubinsky--Callahan. That line would get the fans in the game as they have scoring ability and they would hit everything on the ice. A third line might have been Lisin-Anisimov-Grachev. That line is more along the lines of what this coach is looking for. It has speed, size, and scoring(Grachev has had a problem with confidence since not staying with the team). A fourth line that the coach really never uses anyway could have been Byers--Boyle--Soryal. That line could be used for the 5-7 minutes a game for intimidation. And why the hell did Sather pay Crowder $975,000 this year to just play in Hartford?

On defense is where the problems really are. I try not to be too hard on players because I can't do what they do,BUT, they are professionals and should be able to perform there jobs well. Redden and Rozsival SHOULD be gone!! Granted that this would add 2 more rookies on the ice(barring a trade or signing from a couple of vet defensemen out there), but could they actually do worse than these 2 overpaid underachieving players? We would all think that a combination of Staal--Giradi: DelZotto-Heikkinen: and Sauer--Gilroy at least would add more offense if not more crease clearing prescence with Heikkinen and Sauer able to move players compared to Redden and Rozsival. Rangers also have Potter and Sanguennetti as possibilities.

Well, now I feel alittle better about my frustration and please feel free to add your frustrations in comments, because if I have finally snapped, I can imagine what else is going on out there in Rangers world.
*******************************************************************************

As I have just read from the forums section of OTG, this morning on the WFAN, Boomer and Carton(sp?) said that they have been told by a hockey person who knows about the game that if the Rangers lose tonight Sather will be gone. Why wait for then, start over now and send Glen back home ASAP. Shoenfeld has been the one speaking to the press and explaining moves this year anyway.
