► RUMOR MILL
|
Thursday - December 5th
Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:
Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.
The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

If the Rangers played as intense as their coach, Lundquist and Gaborick would be safer

Last night was just a typical reason why the Rangers don't make it passed the first round year in and year out. The Rangers can explode for 5-6 goals against teams that play hockey but can't put a puck in the net against a trapping team like the Devils or a big team like the Flyers. The "team toughness" is only good if you have a detterent. That is someone that the Rangers lack and is costing points in the standings.
It has been tough enough to watch the key to the team, goalie Henrik Lundquist getting run into on a regular basis. Every team does the skate towrds the net and fall on the goalie if anyone touches them. The Rangers NEED a defenceman that can stop that bullshit already! It's great having puck moving defensemen but a "tough" stay at home to protect Henrik is a MUST!! This player also needs to have a hard shot that will also stop opposing wings from pressuring the points and create more open ice and passing options to forwards.( When an opposing winger knows he might get hit with a BLAST from the point that could injure him he would be less likely to block the shot meaning a Ranger could finally get a shot on goal from the point.)
Not only are teams taking liberties with Lundquist , but now they are going after Gaborik. True that Gaborik dropped the gloves also, but why was he even in that position? As soon as your top player gets into something, SOMEONE--ANYONE should step in for him. Girardi stood by and watched while Gaborik ate 5-7 punches last night. Avery took care of business later in the game but Gaborik could have suffered a concussion if he was hit just right or fell wrong and then the Rangers would be in more trouble than they are now.
Sources are saying that Kotalik(another Sather bust) is asking out of New York as he is in the doghouse with coach Tort's. Face it Kotalick, it has EVERYTHING to do with your poor(and I'm being kind) play. Getting rid of him(rumors of him going to KHL OR hide him in Hartford already) would free up(prorated of $3 mil for this year and $3 mil for the next 2 years)from our capspace which is enough room to bring in the type of defenceman needed.
And while your at it Sather, send down Brashear already. Granted his $1.4 for this year and next stay on the cap due to his age and the CBA, but he is taking up a roster spot of someone who could actually do the job. Bring up Byers or Soryal who would GLADLY protect his team mates and do a better job than Brashear(who left his heart somewhere else). Brashear is only on the Rangers for 1 thing,Fighting, and he doesn't fulfill that role anymore. SEND HIM DOWN ALREADY!
Coach Tort's had another round with the POST's Larry Brooks last night after the game which was entertaining at least. Tort's stood up for his player(Redden of all people) after Brook's tried to light a fuse under Tort's by asking the same question 3 times. I just wish most of the Rangers had that fire in their eyes.
*******************************************************************************
Souray would be an easy option(if he wants to come East of course) as Roszival would go and play for Renney who loves his type of game. Throw in maybe Kotalik and Girardi(who besides last nights coward award) is a solid dman on the cheap. If Oilers have cap problems ,so change Kotalik with Voros(another Renney favorite).
