RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Sather rids Rangerland of another bad signing

Does Sather have Compromising Pics of GM's
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 12:35:17 PM - February 2, 2010

It would seem that Glen Sather must have something on Canadian Gm's as he has pulled off some deals that defy all odds. It started this summer when he actually got rid of a cap crushing contract. Scot Gomez is a talented player but didn't fit in the Rangers system. Instead of being stuck with him in a bad situation, he found a GM that bailed him out. Not only did the Candians' GM bail him out, he gave up his top prospects to do so.

Sather got rid of Gomez and received Canadian top prospects in McDonaugh and Valentenko(both tough stay at home defensemen)along with Higgins(who turned into Prust). Valentenko has said he will return to the NHL if given a shot at a spot, which he will recieve next year. McDonaugh is at the University of Wisconsin earning rave reviews. Not only did Sather get these players, but he got the cap room to sign Gaborik. SO it turned out Gomez for Gaborik, Prust, McDonaugh, and Valentenko. A HUGE win for Sather.

Last night he pulls another coup. He actually must have pulled a Jedi Mind Trick on Sutter because he got rid of someone who has sat out 8 of nine and a player who couldn't score into an open net. The weird part is that Sutter was following the Rangers for almost 2 weeks and saw what was going on. The Rangers were in desperate need for a tough guy ever since Brashear became a punching bag this year. The Rangers got Prust who has had 18 fights so far this year and will clearly go a couple of rounds with Carciollo next time the Rangers face the Flyers. The Rangers were also missing a big body in front of the net and Joikenen is a scorer that should fit well into Coach Tort's system.
Another HUGE win for Sather.

The Rangers also had a deal in place for Souray. The deal was taken off the table when Souray hurt his hand(he also has had concussion problems this year). Don't be surprised to see Sather deal with Toronto now for the defensman that could actually make the Rangers a playoff team.

Now if the Rangers can just keep Sather off the phone in the summer, Rangerland would be fine.
