Will the Rangers trade Chris Kreider?

Previous Polls

Thursday - December 5th

Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:

Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.

The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

Sean Avery paced the Rangers with two goals

Avery Back And Bad
Posted by Toby Ivey ≡ 10:14:00 PM - March 14, 2010

Sean Avery likes playing against the Flyers for some reason. Perhaps it's the way the Flyers like to play the game. Perhaps it had less to do with the Flyers, and more to do with being a healthy scratch for the first time as a Ranger. Whatever the case he responded, and he responded well.

The Rangers went into today's matinee game looking for a crucial two points, and on the way they got a great game from the Grate One. Avery chipped in two goals to help the Rangers to a 3-1 win over their division rivals, and held their opponents to just 18 shots on goal.

Michal Rozsival, ended up with the game winner off his first power play goal of the season, but it was definitely Avery's show. The veteran agitator not only scored, but he drew a penalty and worked hard to take the Flyers off their game.

Out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a powerplay goal off of a bad slashing call by Olli Jokinen, the Rangers faced an uphill battle in the second period. The Rangers entered the game three points behind the eighth placed Boston Bruins, with Boston holding a game in hand.

New York had managed just four shots through the first twenty minutes, as the Flyers suffocated the slot and made it hard for the Rangers to get anything through to the net. That all changed less than two minutes into the second, when Avery picked up a deflection off of Flyers defenseman Matt Carle and put the puck in off the post to tie the game.

Just over three minutes later, and Michal Rozsival would give the Rangers put the Rangers ahead for good in the game, slotting home a shot from the point with Drury screening goaltender Michael Leighton. The puck deflected in off of Leighton's right post and into the net.

Avery would complete the scoring on the night with a third and final shot off the post when he was found open on the left wing following a Flyers clear with the defense out of position.

All in all it was the Rangers taking advantage of home ice and a Flyers game who'd come off an emotional win over the Chicago Blackhawks the night before.

Michal Rozsival registered his first power play goal of the season, and the first goal that did not come against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sean Avery became the seventh Ranger to reach double figures in goals, with his 9th and 10th goals of the seasons.

The Rangers had been shutout in each of their previous two games with the Flyers, but are now 2-2 on the season against their division rivals. They have two games remaining against Philadelphia, the last two games that both teams will play this season.
