RUMOR MILL

Wednesday - June 26th

Elliot Friedmman of Sportsnet, reports that the Avalanche weren't willing to include the 16th overall pick to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Kreider.

Wonder who else wasn't willing to include a first rounder for him. Part of the problem of course is his UFA status next year, and then the expansion draft after that.

Brian Boyle is one of the few bright spots on the Garden Ice

Home Ice Disadvantage
Posted by Michael M. Ramos ≡ 11:01:58 PM - November 9, 2010

The Rangers so far are a .500 hockey team. The biggest problem is that they are 2-5-1 at home. The Rangers mantra was to make the Worlds Most Famous Arena a tough place for the visiting teams to play but you can see by the record that they have fallen short of that goal. The Rangers so far are averaging close to 18,000 fans in the seats, but that may fall very quickily as who wants to spend their hard earned money to see their favorite teams' inconsistent play. If the Rangers could put together a 60 minute solid game, win some faceoffs for a change, and get Gaborik back in the lineup, then maybe the Garden Faithful will actually get their monies worth. The Rangers need to win against Buffalo and Edmonton to split this homestand.

Brian Boyle played an very solid game with 2 goals and sticking up for his teammate DelZotto when a Capital tried to take liberties on him. Sauer stood up for Eminger after the Caps Hendricks went with a knee on knee hit that seemed to hurt Eminger. Staal and Girardi did a fantastic job on Ovechkin and held him without a goal but he did have 2 assists. The team aspect of the game seemed to be in place, but the Rangers weaknesses again proved too big to beat a speedy and talented Capitals squad. The King continued his up and down season so he is due to have a good game on thursday.

Faceoffs are what will keep the Rangers from becoming a playoff contender. Losing a faceoff on the powerplay easily takes 15 seconds (at least) before they get the puck back and into the offensive zone . A lost faceoff in their defensive zone leads to easy goals, penalties while they run around trying to get into their coverage zones, and tires them out so that they are too tired in the 3rd period. The biggest mistake of the offseason seems to be Frolov. Right now Frolov is invisible on the ice except when he didn't pick up the player in the high slot that scored the Capitals winning goal. White should easily be sent to Hartford with his caphit and talent level, why not bring up the Norweigan Hobbit who had a hatrick this week for the Wolfpack/Whale? What does Torts see in Eminger that he doesn't see in Gilroy(scratch for 5 games so far), Gilroy adds offense and it isn't like Eminger has added any huge hits. The 3rd pairing has 2 hitters while they need a puckmover which Gilroy is.

Congrats to Boogard for his 1st goal of the season and 1st in 324 games.
