Rangers youth are enjoying their chances on the NHL stage.

As loyal Rangers fans, we have always wanted to see the organization build a couple of players from within the system, but this is the deepest they have ever had to dig and see what talent is there. With NHL Ranger players being injured on a daily basis, the AHL callups have held there own and are gaining valuable experience while forming a bond that will last a lifetime. A perfect example was as the Rangers jumped over the bench to celebrate the shootout win versus Atlanta,#45 Kris Newbury was on the boards going onto the ice while Chad Kolarik pushed him and he fell onto the ice and all the players there had a good laugh. The Rangers, even though plaqued by injuries that in the past would have devastated this organization, are still in a playoff position while only 8 points out of the #1 spot in the Eastern Conference.
With a season ending injury to Derek Boogaard, Vinny Prospal never even getting started this season to date, Alex Frolov signed to play with Marian Gaborik and is now out for the season, Assistant Captain Ryan Callahan due back around February 1st, Brandon Dubinsky expected out for another 3 weeks, and Eric Christensen still out, it would have been easy for the Rangers to blame another bad season on injuries. We all see teams like the New Jersey Devils fall apart from injuries while the Rangers now stand strong. The difference between organizations such as the Rangers and teams like the Devils is the depth within the organization now that the NHL Cap plays such a huge role in players needed to fill holes by injury or just lackluster play.
The Rangers this season started off with adding the youth of Derek Stepan and Michael Sauer to the surprise of many. The demotion of Wade Redden and Todd White were smart cap saving moves as younger, better, and cap friendlier players were added to the Rangers roster. Players added due to injuries or playing better that have plugged the holes in the lineup have been Zuccarello(the Norweigan Hobbit that CHOSE the Rangers over all other teams in the NHL as a free agent),Ryan McDonagh,Kris Newbury,Chad Kolarik,Dale Weise(just sent back down to the AHL Whale),Brodie Dupont, and Evgeny Grachev. Add to that a young defense that was able to hold it's own and make Michal Rozsival expendableit was possible to trade him for Wojtek Wolski in a trade with the Coyotes further making the Rangers are a young, tough, and fun team to watch. In a season in which the Garden Brass was expecting between 16,000 and 17,000 sold seats a game, so far the Rangers average 18,039 per game as the product on the ice is bringing out the fans to support the youth movement(along with Rangers fans being one of the most LOYAL in all of sports).
The goaltending is the main reason why the Rangers hit the ice with ALWAYS a chance to take 2 points. Henrik looks to again be a Vezina finalist while MArtin Biron seems to be the perfect backup with solid play along with team support.
Hopefully the injury bug is done infecting the Rangers and we will have Callahan, Dubinsky, Christensen, and even Prospal(who just had injection put into his knee and he said it was like putting oil into a car) return and add their game back and lead the Rangers deep into the playoffs in the springtime battle towards Lord Stanley. This a great time to see the Rangers transform on and off theice along with the Garden transformation.
