► RUMOR MILL
|
Thursday - December 5th
Per Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet:
Prior to the December 1st deadline, the Oikers apparently tried again to move Jesse Pujljujarvi, and the Rangers were reportedly one of the teams interested.
The trade would have involved Lias Andersson going the other way, but ultimately they could work out a deal.

The King was pulled for a subpar performance that led his team to defeat.

When the Rangers played the lowly Devils from Newark, they didn't match the intensity of such a desperate team fighting to get out of last place. Henrik went into the game 21-7-5 lifetime against the Devils and 19-4-5 against Fatso head to head. Even though the Devils are out of playoff contention, their veterans are finally playing up to their potential while the rookies are sat to watch in a lost season which has the Devils playing well enough at this time to get out of the basement in the NHL. Last night the Devils were a goalpost better than the Rangers in a game that the Devils trap was back in full form.
The Rangers were met at the right time by the Devils as the players coming back were just that little off to cost the Rangers the game. Dubinsky hit post, Prospal hit post, Dubinsky missed a wide open net, you get the idea. The King also played one of his worst games of the season, that can't be tolerated or the Rangers will go nowhere. Give him time off to work with the goalie coach like earlier in the year and he will come back stronger and quicker. Callahan, although scoring 2 goals in 2 games is off his game, Dubinsky's timing is way off, Prospal should get Gaborik going finally, but with these players just back some others are going by the wayside. Tort's has to do a better job of piecing this team together!!!
What are Boyle,Avery,Prust, and Zuccarello now just sitting after showing the true identity of the Rangers of the grind it out spirit. Tort's, you finally have 4 lines to roll and to keep the players that have played so well during all these injuries active. But instead, the Rangers are playing the guys just back over 20+ minutes while the players who have gotten the Rangers to this point play 10 minutes. I get what Tort's angle is, play them more and they will be in shape faster. But what is wrong with easing them in, skating them hard in practice to make up the difference and roll 4 lines to keep everyone fresh and then shorten the bench in the 3rd period if need be.
With Montreal,Detroit,Anaheim,Pittsburgh(with MAlkin and Crosby most likely)and the Kings; the next 5 games will be defining in whether the Rangers will fight for the 4th spot of struggle for the 7-8. EVERY PLAYER HAS A JOB TO DO---JUST DO IT!!
