Three More Signed
August 18, 2005

Former #1 Pick Re-Signed
The Rangers announced today that they have re-signed Jamie Lundmark to a contract, terms of the deal were not disclosed.  Originally drafted 8th overall in the 1999 draft, Lundmark has yet to secure a spot in the NHL going into his fifth professional season.  Initially drafted as a center, the Rangers elected to move him to wing in his first professional season with the Wolf Pack.  The move appeared to pay off in the 2002-03 pre-season, when Lundmark was amongst the offensive leaders as he played along sides the likes of Bobby Holik and Mark Messier.  After making the NHL roster, Lundmark started slowly before finishing the season with a creditable 19 points in 55 appearanced.

His follow up season was somewhat disappointing with Lundmark struggling early and ultimately knocked out for over twenty games after clashing knee on knee with New York Islanders center Michael Peca.  Lundmark ultimately returned, but was unable to make contribution in the latter stages of the season, before being given a handful of games back at his natural center spot as the season wore down.

Last year Lundmark initially elected to play in Italy, but returned early in the season to join the Hartford Wolf Pack.  After some initial struggles, Lundmark finished the second half of the season with 31 points, the most by any Wolf Pack player.  This season Lundmark will likely be given his final chance to stick with the Rangers and he may find himself traded if he is unable to make an impact.

Rangers Re-Sign Wiseman

Restricted free agent winger Chad Wiseman elected to sign a contract today and will once again suit up in the Rangers organization.  The former San Jose Sharks draft pick was acquired by the Rangers in the summer of 2003 in exchange for left winger Nils Ekman.  Wiseman's performance with the Wolf Pack in the 2003-04 season earned him a berth for the AHL All-Star game and lead to an initial 3-game call-up to the NHL in which he scored his first NHL goal against New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur.  Wiseman made just one more appearance for the Rangers that season.

Last season was a step back for the Canadian born left wing.  Wiseman was limited to just 60 appearances, and saw his points total drop to just 33.  Wiseman needs to have a solid camp and strong start to the season if he hopes to press again for an NHL spot, and will now find increased competition for ice time from Hugh Jessiman and Nigel Dawes.

Rugged Winger Re-Signs

Garth Murray has signed a contract to return with the Rangers for another season, his fourth as a pro.  The rugged left winger will be looking to bounce back from another injury plagued season and indifferent offensive production to press once again for a spot in the NHL.  The soon to 23 year old native of Regina Saskatchewan will likely press for a roster spot on the Ranges, but will have increased competition this year with the likes of Rick Kozak, Jason Ward and Rick Kozak also pressing for ice time.  Murray has played in 20 NHL games, making his debut in the 1993-94 season where he registered a goal and 24 penalty minutes in his time on Broadway
