The first goal tonight will be telling. Not that the team who scores first wins the game for sure, but if the Rangers get that first goal the Habs will have to start thinking and getting in their heads a little. If the Habs score it they will settle in some and feel more comfortable I'd think.

You have to believe Montreal will win tonight, because they know their season is almost on the line. If you go down 2-0 in the NHL playoffs the %'s are WAY stacked against you to come back and win 4 of 5 games to win the series. So I am sure the Habs will be extra jacked up tonight. Going to be a tough game for the NYR to win. But if we can score the first goal and put some doubt in Montreal's heads anything is possible.

Henrik is in the Habs heads big time, the longer the shutout streak goes the more their buttholes will pucker. The pressure to win at home will be fierce, the fans may even turn on the Habs making things worse for them. The Rangers need to weather the first 10 minutes of intensity that the Habs will bring. After that, the Rangers will have the playoff experience and momentum. The Habs need a lucky puck bounce or deflection to beat Henrik, the King looks locked in right now.

Expect Girardi to continue his "rebirth". Skjei/Smith are solid, Staal/Holden not so much. Look for Hayes-Miller-Grabner to have an impact tonight. Where's Waldo, I mean Kreider, needs to get involved. He looked spooked by the atmosphere last game. He should accept being Public Enemy #1 in Montreal, embrace it even, and make it hurt even more by hitting and maybe scoring a goal.

If the Rangers score one on the PP the Habs are cooked. Nah nah naaaaahhh nah, hey hey, goodbye.

HOLLA!!!

Miller was very good that period. Somebody get Kreider a coffee and wake his ass up.

Besides the money issues, Zib for Brass was so they could compete in these types of games. Zip needs to bury a goal and start asserting himself physically.

The one thing I think that gives Glass some value is his ability to PK, but he's not the greatest with the puck, and that's his weakness...and why he has such horrible possession numbers

You got to love this coach. Dump the puck in, NO FORECHECK. More important to have short shifts than keep them pinned in their own zone. Let them carry the puck into our zone and create chances. Then, at the most crucial point of the game, send out Staal and Holden to shut it down.

This series is 2 - 0 Rangers heading back to NY if not for Staal-Holden. Brutal game, all night. 3 goals against and several long shifts in their zone. Play Klein and Kempfer over these stiffs next game.

Horrible coaching by AV in that 3rd period. Totally passive, playing not to lose instead of playing to win. AV sucks.

Staal made a great play to Grabner who didn't clear. Prior to that Holden should have easily cleared the puck. Execution.

This is on the coach AGAIN!!! Holden and Staal shouldnt be anywhere near the ice with under 3 to go!!!

Absolutely!!! Neither one has the oomph to get the puck out of the zone and that's who are out there. This is on the coach 100% for poor personnel decision at the end of the game.

AV nearly ****ed up Game 1 by jumbling lines in the 3rd period, and he's ****ed this game up as well.

Rangers have lost the momentum and look passive. Not the same team from the first two periods.

Never wanted to control the puck. I'd say since the OT penalty, which....... what!?!? Why are we calling THAT in this OT?

I digress.... Rangers know how to work this puck against Montreal, but as I feared, couldn't get out of the "sit on the lead" mentality. They played to not get scored on, instead of playing to score. Played to get to the red line, instead of playing to apply pressure on Price and their D.

A great first 2 periods.... Not so good once they went up 3-2.

BUT, they did what is expected of them in splitting the first two games in Montreal. Back to MSG for Game 3

The last two goals were caused by weak coverage in front of the net. Nicks brutal job of jumping on his knees instead of planting Plekanic and taking a penalty if he had to was just fn brutal. I didn't think it could get any worse. I was wrong. Zibanejad has been getting a pass by a lot of us. I know he broke his leg but he should be 100 % now so no excuses. His coverage on Radulov was terrible. You learn in midget hockey to take away his stick or knock him on his ass. His coverage was pathetic, and shows very little evidence of doing anything to win. Zibanejad played that like he was in a regular season jr b game. Rangers have had terrible net front coverage all season so you had to know it would happen in the playoffs.

Zib for Brassard...We lost that trade...Holden has to under all circumstances jump on Plekanec and tackle him with :17 left...Not F'n stand there and do nothing...And why the F were him and Staal on the ice in the last minute? they were on the ice for all 3 goals up to that point

You base us losing the Zib for Brass trade on 2 playoff games...come on now. As if Brass never disappeared for a playoff game. How did he do game 1 for the Sens? What about games 5 and 7 against TB? And how does that factor in the seasons each had this year (Brass was at best average), the fact that Brass is over 5 years older (29 + to Zib turning 24 this week), and the cap savings we got this year helped us finish off the team. I would make that trade again today if offered. Both are good solid players, but I'll take the guy who is 5 + years younger.

I agree with you on Holden though as I said in another thread. If he is in game 3 over Klein I will join the bash AV for everything club....

I really think game 3 is going to tell you a lot of the story on the direction of this series. Not saying the winner of game 3 wins the series for sure, but I do think the winner of game 3 will be in a real good spot.

If we win we're up 2-1, got some of the home ice monkey off our backs, and could have been up 3-0 (which bodes well for us finishing the series off).

If they win they're up 2-1, keep us lost at home (remember it is not just in the regular season but in the playoffs as well that we have sucked at home), and they would have a great comeback in game 2 and then continued the momentum by winning game 3 on the road (which bodes well for them finishing the series off).

I do think it is that big of a game, even if it isn't a game that the winner will win the series for sure. I believe you'll have the story of this series right in front of you pretty clearly after game 3.

For me personally, it will be hard to see us winning the series if they lose game 3 after the way they had to be crushed emotionally losing game 2. That's my take at least.

No Ive been on Zib all season....He has been invisible...We are not talking about the Sens...Brass was playoff noticeable/clutch with us...Zib has been MIa all season...Its even in one of the papers today.
NYR needs to forget last night...Its over. We can beat these guys. They absolutely have to win Tomorrow nite...and AV needs to not have 18 and 22 out there in the last minute protectiing a 1 goal lead

Zib had 14 goals and 37 points in 56 games.
Brass had 14 goals and 39 points in 81 games.

Who had the better season?

You can have your opinion, but it is simply not based in fact when comparing him to Brass. Now YES Brass had many big playoff moments here, but I am not ready to say after 2 games that Zib will not also.

And I expect more from Zib moving forward. But I am not ready to say we lost a trade when Zib had a better season than Brass, and we have played all of 2 playoff games thus far. I will also add Zib had a better season than Brass despite a major injury that cost him months in the middle of his first season with a new team.

I'll say again, give me the guy who is 5 + years younger when choosing between 2 good solid players. And I was a big Brass fan and I say that.

Fast forward through a bunch of playoff games and Zib is still struggling then I may feel differently, but not after 2 games.

Staal, Holden, Hayes, and Kreider have been the worst Ranger players through 2 games. To me Holden has been in a class by himself though. He better be scratched tomorrow night in favor of Klein.

As for the other 3 they need to step up their play. All there is to it. Maybe being back with Klein will help Staal. We'll see.

Again...just stop. Zib is 5 + years younger and he is already a very comparable player to Brass. The regular season this year was no comparison. I want to see more than 2 playoff games before I write off Zib as a guy who cannot get it done...at just 24 mind you. He is way ahead of where Brass was at 24.

Again...some of you "fans" are ridiculous.

We're not "ridiculous". We just have opinions and points of view that you disagree with. Why the need to attack the person rather than simply debate the opinion? Some of us here strongly disagree with each other, have for years, but rarely get to the point where we're calling each other "ridiculous" or questioning what kind of "fan" the other is.

It is non-stop in here. Knock after knock. I just would love to see some balance. It is ridiculous that this team overachieved to get 100 + points again, sits 1-1 in their playoff series going home, and it is knock after knock.

Sorry...but that is kind of ridiculous. Doesn't mean you aren't entitled to your opinions, you very much are, but it is ridiculous that the opinions in here are knock after knock.

And debate...that is funny. My 3rd day here I was called 100 names. Today Rr called me about 15 names in 3 posts. Yes...let's debate. Again the pattern is clear in here. I am not part of the group that knocks everything and thinks AV sucks, therefore I am an outsider that deserves to be slammed non-stop. That's cool, but realize what it is.

Knock knock? Looks like balance to me.

Obviously, you see the glass as half full. I think 102 points is an underachievement.

Knock knock? AV Sucks! Just my opinion.

Brassard came to this team as a 24 year old, and what I remember was a player that was light years better than this 24 year old Zibanejad. Brassard led the team in playoff scoring in 3 of the last 4 seasons. In those 4 playoff seasons, he totaled 44 points. Compare that to Stepan's 34 or Nash's 33.

I've seen enough of Zibanejad in 5 full NHL seasons to not want to protect him in the expansion draft over players like Grabner, Fast, or Lindberg. It would be addition by subtraction.

I really think game 3 is going to tell you a lot of the story on the direction of this series. Not saying the winner of game 3 wins the series for sure, but I do think the winner of game 3 will be in a real good spot.

That is fair. Way ahead was an overstatement. I should have said comparable. His season this year was better than Brass' season.

He is also a R shot, which we needed. We saved money this year, which we needed and helped us afford Vesey. And on a team that has dealt 1st round picks the past couple of seasons adding 5 + years of age is a plus as well.

My main point still stands, no doubt Brass was a very good playoff performer for us, but I am not ready to say after 2 NYR playoff games that Zib cannot be also. Maybe he won't be, I don't know, but I won't say he is a failure after 2 playoff games.

I will add, he needs to step up his game and he needs to improve in his own zone. That is very fair.

Why do you think Ottawa was willing to give up on a 23 yr old 1st round pick? Brass did the same as the other 17 skaters in G5 and G7

Silly statement....just because they traded him doesn't mean they "were wiling to give up on a 23 year old 1st round pick". You have to give to get.....not every deal is because someone has to give up on a player
