Ducks have been rolling, they smashed the Pens last night in Pitt. Rangers have had success against them in recent years, but this team is playing well these days. Rangers are rested, Ducks played and traveled last night. No excuses

Boo with some offensive decisiveness early on. He’s driving to the net WITH the puck, something that the Rangers don’t do enough of. Draws penalties and creates chances

I went last year with my kid in December before Christmas against the Devils. MSG was rockin. The opponent tonight is not a division rival, so not a lot of buzz until the game gets feisty

Ducks putting on a defensive clinic. And the Rangers have nobody who can break through a defense like this. Too many perimeter players.

I remember going to games during Christmas week back in the day and MSG was always buzzing....Its dead now

I went last year with my kid in December before Christmas against the Devils. MSG was rockin. The opponent tonight is not a division rival, so not a lot of buzz until the game gets feisty

You gotta give people a reason, something to cheer about.

Young kids, developing a good work ethic, building a team-oriented culture. I saw this in the late 80s, it ended up developing into the foundation of a Cup winner. Not saying that will happen here now, but ....

Saturday vs the Leafs.....Leafs are good...they have 3 very good lines

Leafs are the only team that can hang with the Bolts in a 7 game series.

Tough game for the Blueshirts in “Tah-rahn-tah” (props to Bill Chadwick, we miss ya)

Namestnikov is becoming a interesting cat, and by the trade deadline might move himself into a guy the Rangers don’t want to let go. Any guy that plays in London in the OHA for Dale Hunter has a lot more to himself and his game than just skill. Hunter is one of the best judges of character and winners of any coach in junior hockey.
Quinn slapped him right between the eyes with a missed game or two early in the season and since then Names has been good, and doing well playing up the lineup. It’s evident there is some serious upside with this guy, and his commitment is impressive and that should make the Rangers pretty confident this is a guy who is going to realize his potential. Very happy to see this guys reaction to being sat, and coming back with his mouth shut and extra effort night after night. Soon to be a mainstay in my opinion.

Lias with 6:09 of ice time last night

Christmas in Hartford. Let the second guessing on the Rangers handling or over estimation of his abilities increase. "He was the most ready NHL prospect available" words to remember, when you look at Clark's body of work, who has a lot hanging on Miller and Kravtsov success. There can be no bumbles at the upcoming 2019 draft assuming the Rangers acquire a few more chips.

I said it a few games back the next month basically will be sink or swim as is, let alone after the necessary Hayes, Zucc and others traded by the deadline. The Rangers have no other choice. Keep Hayes and trade Zib my personal choice, but they will trade Hayes and continue on the path. One of Hayes or Zib will block Chytil, who is starting to look like the number two center next year.

Yep and It will be very interesting to see what happens.....If we trade Hayes...how do replace his production right away? we already lost all of Nash Grabner and Millers goals from lat year...JG GC and GS have their work cut out for them

I think we need to see him succeed at center before annointing him anything. He looks a lot better on the wing than he did at center. I'm not saying he can't be a center, but he needs to do it before I'd worry about clearing him a spot.

I don't disagree with you however they can't play Chytil at third center because Howden is the guy for now. With Zib and Hayes at 1 and 1a there is no room for Chytil at center. They are staring down the barrel at a 7 times 7 mill type of deal for Hayes if they plan on keeping him. The call at the trade deadline will be do we bite on that contract or believe that Chytil can handle the role. They will put their chips on Chytil and possibly Howden as number 2 next year if Chytil has problems. That's their plan at this point in time. Not only is Hayres a big contract but a rebuilding team has to get the chips he will bring back.

I would have preferred if they chose Hayes over Zib when the decision was made to sign someone long term but they chose Zib, and he's been good enough not to have them reverse course on that decision. At this point I'm just rooting for Hayes to continue scoring points and stay healthy, and maximize his value.

I would rather keep Hayes vs Zib, but Zib has an affordable contract for a top 6 C and unfortunately that matters. If you trade Zib the Rangers need to get back a top 6 wing or 2nd pair d plus a pick or a prospect at a minimum. If they trade Hayes, the Rangers could back a little less or more prospects/picks due to Hayes being a free agent. At this point the Rangers still need to have NHL quality players in exchange for Zib and Hayes. There is no way Chytil or Howden is ready for 2nd C minutes. Howden is in a bit of a mid season lull and Chytil looks ok at wing. Namestnikov might be able to step in at 2nd C and that would help keep Howden and Chytil from too much too soon.

No one is calling for either Howden or Chytil second pair minutes “now”. If the Rangers trade Hayes it will be because they feel they will have a in-house replacement to start next year. Whether it’s Chytil, Howden or it could certainly be Namestnikov someone is going to have to fill the spot for the rest of the season because any trade deadline deals involving Hayes will not bring back a number two center. Whether we agree with it or not, reality is Hayes is gone, with or without a replacement.
