Canada 4 Slovaks 0 after one period. USA defeated Russia yesterday. Good start for both North American squads.

Watching this years World Junior with the Rangers actually having a couple of high end kids in it only increases the interest.

Good info article. We'll get to watch 4 top prospects starting today on the NHL network... Kravtsov is the only one not playing tonight, we can catch him tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing Kratsov. By all reports the Rangers made a great pick. Wasn’t a popular pick at the time, but is making big strides and matching numbers some present Russian superstars did at the same age. A lot of hype up here about the kid.

I was to Mikey, but in hindsight if Kratsov and Miller fulfill their hype you got a first line scorer maybe even a center and a stud dman, plus the Swede is almost a sure fire NHL’er, time will tell, like always.

Canada will win tonight as did the USA 2-1 over Slovaks. Miller all in all pretty quiet, not unexpected for his first brush with this level. I kinda expect him to get better as he gets in sync.

Slovaks were a good opponent tonight, gave the USA a test. Miller was steady, didn't do much wrong and picked up some confidence and will probably be more involved the next game.

Rangers recap failed to mention K'Andre WAS on the ice for a goal against lol....Bad job by scheduling..There is no NHL Net2 so we have to wait. After the USA game there was a ridiculous long post game show that nobody wants to watch...then they went to the Canada game. Same thing after the Canada game...but not as long a post game show before going to Sweden game. I will not pay for ESPN+ either. Team USA is in the B group which plays in a "B" arena

One game where Kravstov didn’t do much. I was not impressed with his skating or his effort. Saw a guy pretty content to skate around tapping his stick on the ice waiting for someone to give it to him. You don’t judge a player after one game buuut you know about “” first impressions””

I didn't see the game obviously, but only at OTG will a guy score two minutes in to the game and add an assist in his first game.... and the commentary is nothing but negative

Kravtsov's goal and assist pales in comparison to Canadian numbers rang up against the same team the night before. Second game in two nights against a rested Russian squad. So if your going off statistics how does he stack up against a guy who scored 5 goals against Denmark?. Denmark is what it is a weak program constantly struggling to qualify to stay in the tournament year after year. Maybe you should watch the game Rob, replays are available. Reality is his skating was not impressive and he didn’t do much against one of the worst if not the worst team's in the tournament. But that could be jet lag, maybe he’s under the weather who knows. The rest of the tournament will give him plenty of opportunity to showcase his abilities. I don’t see his skating getting any better but his effort better improve. His game will be analyzed to its minutest detail by the talking heads, and it will be interesting to see what he’s got.

Thats true Mike but teams like Denmark, and Switzerland and others are not much competition for the better teams. Good players should walk through them. In fairness to Kravtsov no one knows whats going on in the inner circle, injuries, flu ect. so you watch closely for the rest of his tournament and his game will be there for all to see.

Most Rangers fans have long been a disgrace and embarrassment to the organization when evaluating their players or prospects. They love players on other teams who have won nothing or barely have played any playoff games. They drool over other teams prospects who aren't that good. Kravtsov and Miller from the scouting reports that matter were said to be elite skaters. Lundkvist has a super high hockey IQ. I stopped listening to jackass Rangers fans on our players and prospects over 10 years ago. They are clueless.

You disagreeing is a endorsement thank you. Only you are dumb enough to turn a post critiquing Kravtsov's skating into rip on the entire scouting organization. Keep it on track there skip, your the only one babbling about Miller and Lundkvist.

Spare us your horsecrap you flamer. You along with countless others dumbasses in our fan base are turning out team into the Mets fan base. A fan base of dickheads who do nothing but complain, cry and rip players which is why no FA's want to play there if they have a choice.

There is no “US” only you putz. Thank you again for personally endorsing and showcasing your own dumbness. A simple critique of a player’s skating and effort has graduated into Manny Machado not wanting to play for the Mets because fans would critique him on the Mets forums. You need to put the pipe down and walk away son. Get some help.

This board has been the same for 10 years. All our players suck. All our prospects suck. Last year Nash got a first and Lindgren. Grabner got a second and Rykov. McDonagh and Miller got 1 first, maybe two but if not a second, Hajek, Howden and Namestnikov. Miller who Tampa fans hate with a passion now. Same crap, different year here. It never changes. Going back to that fat ass PackAttack who though no prospect we had was any good and was never ready.

Where did anyone on here say all our players and prospects suck. That’s you grandstanding over nothing. I said I don’t think much of his skating or effort. Boo hoo you turn it into this. As we speak I’m watching Kravstov play the checks replay and after one period his skating is not elite and his impact on this game has been minimal to put it nicely. Go ahead and cry another river.

Finally at 13.30 of the third Krapper makes a nice rush carrying the puck in wide from center around a couple guys and into the slot and just misses.

Kravstov having his best period in the third against the checks which is typical of jet lag timing. Some nice tip in attempts and showed some pretty good vision feeding a late comer off the rush. Leads to some anticipation for Russia’s next game.

It's hard to compare Kravtsov on Team Russia to anyone on Team Canada.... What would happen to his numbers if he were playing FOR Canada?

It's like being unimpressed with his stats in KHL... he's playing for a crap team. That isn't to say Russia is crap, but....

The great Filip Zadina has no points yet in this thing... what does that say about him??

Swiss had opportunities to win but couldn’t help themselves. The shorthanded and following pp goal by Russia were killers. Kravstov showing his hands again, has a good release and can make a pass as shown on his setup. You never really know what you have in these Russian kids til they get over here and get going. Attitude and desire will take this kid a long long way. Talent is there but he needs a dose of NHL hockey and coaching to get his game going. I saw some little things going on I didn’t like much, most notably he always seemed to be the high guy in the other teams end, but in fairness to him it very well could be he was following coaches orders, so at this point in time it’s not a big deal.

I assume you are responding to my post, good thing I understand comprehending the quote button use is a little steep for you. You get feisty when you say stupid stuff, and then you say more. Vicious circle for you. Quinn Hughes will finish the season in Vancouver, which will be a lot sooner than some of the gems you have fearlessly predicted, Gropp, Fontaine ect. . . Quinn Hughe's is NHL ready now. So just sit back and keep cleaning up those spills in aisle 2 and wait and see. You must be a sight to see whizzing around with your new sponge mop. Which is as close to a hockey stick as you have ever been.

Kravtsov had a really nice feed on Russia's first goal. He's good at both ends of the ice. One of the best players in this thing, no doubt. It'll be interesting to see if he plays wing or center when he gets to North America.

The smaller ice doesn't seem to bother him. There's probably some getting use to still, but he's doing fine

Drafting Quinn depends on when like any other player. Vancouver got great value for the seventh pick, probably the dman from the draft that will have the best overall career. He will dress out at 190 when he matures and is 5'10" not overly small in Buttmans new NHL. . Atypically I'm a fan of big defensemen , however this guy is a offensive power play catalyst that doesn't come along every year. Many are advertised and few deliver. Plugs that clear bodies and throw their weight around are available all over the place. The fact dump doesn't like him is a feather in Quinn's cap.

I think Miller here next year might be a bit optimistic, but its not like three or four present defenseman wouldn't be hard to beat out . Rangers want to be very careful about rushing him. Geez when has that ever happened. haven't been able to watch much of the USA so looking forward to the playoff game coming up.
And I don't see Clark striking out, Kravstov has been fine showing some excellent offensive instincts, vision and finish. I'm still not wild about his skating, but he gets from point a to b on time. In his case I think his skating results supersede his form. I feel a lot better about Kravtsov's game than Andersson's who I'd be a lot more worried about striking out.

Miller not playing much at all only seen him on the ice a few times. Islanders got a dandy in 2017 in the 7th round in Cockerill, great wheels always in the play.

Based on his college performance so far it is not a leap to expect him to be a impact player in this tournament. It’s a short tournament so you have to be careful in assessments. But he’s had very little impact throughout the tournament and that surprises me. But 4.31 left and he’s still out there so that’s the good news.

No he didn’t play last year, and making the team the season after he is drafted is a accomplishment. I think it’s safe to say he plays another year of college, comes back next year and hopefully is a go to player for the USA, finishes his college season and signs in the spring of 2020. No need to rush this guy who is fairly new to defense.

You could not be more wrong. He's not even a good scorer in college and he's a midget. He pretty much has no NHL future.

You have never heard of Cockerill. You couldn't tell a puck from a duck without looking at the after game stats first. Anyone who watched the tournament saw a guy constantly generating chances. He’s a great 207th overall 7th round pick by the Isles.. Now Cleanup on aisle three bub, take your new sponge mop.

This was Miller's first WJC.... he's only 18.... no one ever said he's NHL ready, as a matter of fact have only said he'll need time to develop.... he's a freshman in college, and doing great things in the NCAA. He got an assist in his 6 games for USA..... The Great Quinn Hughes got a whole 2 assists!

But yeah... K'Andre is all hype.... nerds....

You are right dude...but there is a whole lot of NYR fan world out there that already has his jersey retired ....Its ridiculous. Kid is 18 and raw but has the physical tools...Lets just hope he is a top 4 D man for us someday, But with all the hype around him I expected him to be a depended on guy top 2/4 for USA

Lol. Easy rob, it was stated its his first tourney, next year the expectations get real. The great Quinn Hughes was all over the ice and noticeable every shift, Miller not so much. Hopefully Miller plays as well next year.

Looking forward to seeing Kratsov. By all reports the Rangers made a great pick. Wasn’t a popular pick at the time, but is making big strides and matching numbers some present Russian superstars did at the same age. A lot of hype up here about the kid.

THN is talking him up big time. They love this player. They say may be steal of the draft if he keeps up what he is doing & showing & playing.
