I ran and completed the marathon yesterday.

It was a tough day out there for lots of runners as they were in the same boat I was in. Since Jan 9th, when the real heavy snow started to fall, I ran only 7 days. My training had been great until then. It was enough to carry me through.

Fittingly yesterday was a cold, rainy/snowy day with the road filled with puddles and slush.

That was the 9th Marathon but first since 1995.

Next Marathon will be on Oct 30 -- Marine Corps Marathon in DC. I've run this race 5 times. The race was smaller (about 16,000 runners) back in the mid 90's. Now it has 30K

Lots of races and miles between now and then.

I started my 18 week training plan for the Marine Corps Marathon this week.

This week's mileage is 31 miles and it will build to 50 miles a week -- 4 weeks out from the race. Then I back off the last 3 weeks.

My long run this week was 11 miles -- that will build up to a 20 mile run.

I hope the summer is not too hot.

All the training is done. I had high points and low points -- whatever.

I head for Washington on Thursday -- I'm combining business with the trip.

Sunday cannot get here soon enough I am so amped to run. The race will humble me quickly.

The week before a marathon is such a pain. I am super-hydrating my body through the week. I have had about 100 ounces of water today -- you can figure out the rest.

Got it done. Not as fast as I wanted but my training wasn't what I wanted.

What a massive race this has become.

I am happy with two marathons completed in my first year back to marathoning.

I ran my last little training run.

I'm as ready as I'm going to be for another marathon this coming Sunday, in Hyannis again.

The predicted weather is 40 degrees and sunny. This will be much better than the snow, cold, rain, wind, and slush during this race last year.

My watch tells me I finished the 26 miles in 4 hours 35 minutes.

I knocked off about 35 minutes from last fall.

Day was pretty good for running. The constant wind, and gusts around 35 to 40 mph was annoying. But not a big deal in the end.

I'm off tonight to Washington to run this year's Marine Corps Marathon.

The race should beat the storm though it will probably rain for the entire 26 miles.
