The Rangers are tied for second in the NHL in wins this season and are the only Eastern Conference team that has earned 18 wins both at home and on the road this season.

ROAD WARRIORS
The Rangers are tied for the NHL lead in road wins this season (18) and also lead the NHL in road wins since the start of the 2013-14 season (90). Michael Grabner leads the NHL in even strength goals (25), is tied for fifth in goals (26), and is tied for seventh in plus/minus rating (plus-28) this season. Grabner leads the NHL (min. 10 games played) in goals per 60 minutes of ice time this season (2.07). He is also the only NHL player who has registered at least 25 goals and a plus-25 rating in 2016-17. Grabner has recorded 16 points (12 goals, four assists) in the last 15 games. Over the last 20 seasons, Grabner is one of four Rangers who have tallied at least 25 even strength goals in a season (Jagr - 2005-06; Gaborik - 2009-10 and 2011-12; Nash - 2014-15).

Rangers playing with some confidence and driving to the net in the second period. CBJ defense is physical in front though. Raanta looks sharp.

Last 6 minutes of the period CBJ has just cycled in the Rangers zone. And not one hit/pin into the boards by a Rangers to stop the cycle. This is what will kill them in April.

CBJ holding back a bit... first two have been a chess match, which I think is better for the Rangers. The Rangers own the third period.

I can accept (sorta) that Holden isn't that physical. But for ****s sake he should be able to handle the puck and not turn it over so much.

Raanta was strong all game, especially at the end.

Just imagine this team with a tough, physical Dman on the right side. Perhaps in place of Holden.

My Dream for about 25 years!!!

Rangers need to upgrade their defense if they plan on making a deep push.

The roster is taking shape. AV tried Buchnevich in the top 6, but went back to the lines he had during the rest of this winning streak.

Vesey Stepan Nash
Kreider Zibanejad Zuccarello
Grabner Hayes Miller
Buchnevich Lindberg Fast

Buchnevich is turning out to be a trade chip IMO.

Buchnevich is turning out to be a trade chip IMO.
Heresy! I bought my son a Buchnevich jersey for Christmas.

Seriously, that would be typical Ranger management move to package their top prospect for a rental. Shame to hear it from a fan of the team though. Buch has a way bigger upside than Vesey or anybody else in the system, other than maybe a goalie playing in Russia.

Why does it have to be a rental? Why can't we trade for someone who is also young, and can have a career with The Rangers? Like say, Trouba who is only 22!?!?

Buchnevich is a unique talent with size who should never be traded unless Ovechkin is coming the other way. He's got a long, bright future on this team. Unfortunately for him (not for the team or the fans) he's on a team with incredible top 9 talent. So he's relegated to the 4th line for now. But he is nowhere near expendable. Better that they trade Fast or one of the Dmen not named McDonagh for what they need in the playoffs.

That's all very idealistic. I'd love to turn Fast in to a top 4 defender, but no one is going to accept that trade. Gotta give to get.... I don't want to trade Buchnevich.... as a matter of fact before he got here, I was one of the only guys praising him.... even when camp opened up the talk was he was a bust... not big enough.... pushed around worse than Prucha, people said.

I like him. I like him more than Vesey.... but I also like making a run at The Cup!

McDonagh Trouba

Has potential to be a top pair in this league for the next 4-5 years!

I agree with you Buchnevich is a talent and another Gord Clark draft day coup. He's going to be a fun guy to watch for years to come. Why anyone would trade Vesey, Buchnevich or Skjei and their " no need to protect status" in the upcoming expansion draft is beyond me.

If the Rangers make a deal you can almost bet the incoming player will occupy a spot on the expansion protected list. If he's a dman he will be exposed and probably lost, unless Staal or Girardi get dumped. And if the Rangers do acquire a young defensive talent, that has to be protected, it would almost put a stamp on a Girardi buyout, unless by some miracle Gorton manages to trade him and his contract. If he's a forward he just adds to the already tough expansion draft decisions up front.

The guy that makes the most sense to trade is Stepan. His next two seasons NMC and modified for the following two seasons is a place the Rangers don't want to go. Especially with Hayes, Zabenijad, and Miller capable of filling the top three centre roles. Stepan has been a good Ranger and all, but not exactly burning it up this year and many nights settles into a safe perimeter game. It's also a reallocation of assets if a defensemen comes back in the trade. Rangers are pretty good up front but do need help on defense. Mostly it's all about the cap, with Zabenijad needing to get paid next season, others shortly after that.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I believe it's possible for players who have those clauses to waive them which would make them eligible for the unprotected list. I will have to do some searching to see if I can find the article that referred to this.

IF that is the case, it would be a boon for the Rangers.

None of that is going to happen.
