He is before my time. I never saw him play. But, he made The Top 100, so I'm confused. He made Top 100, Rod Gilbert didn't make the list. Gilbert is a HofFer & he is not. What am I missing?

P.S.: How did Hawerchuck not make The Top 100?!?

I am quite surprised Ratelle is not a Hall of Famer. He should be. He was a very special player. Trading him and Park was stupid then and still stupid now.

Guys.....Ratelle is very much in the hockey hall of fame.

My favorite player growing up....did everything well (except hitting....sorry PV, but he had Hadfield to do that).

Long overdue to get his number in the rafters....

Maloney during the game said there was some rift going back. I guess he also wore the Rangers jersey for that Top 100 ceremony. He said this was Darth Sather's pushing to make it happen.

I would have taken Ratelle 10 out of 10 over Gilbert.

They are both Ranger legends....Gilbert had a rocket of a shot....knew how to get in the scoring areas. Ratelle was a smooth skater who passed the puck better than anyone not named Orr during his prime. He also had a pretty good wrist shot, and could certainly snipe (and didn't get beat much on face offs).

I think you could compare him to Backstrom/Jeff Carter in today's game.

I would imagine that if Corsi existed back then, the GAG line would have been off the charts cause they always had the puck.

Long overdue indeed. Gentleman Jean was perhaps the best center to play for the Rangers until this Messier guy came along. While he didn't initiate much hitting, I also remember him standing up for himself and not taking any crap. Hadfield's primary job was to protect Gilbert from the Ferguson's of the league.

Sucked when he got traded. Seeing him in that filthy Bruins jersey for the first time made me ill.

Welcome home, #19.

Long overdue. Glad they are correcting this oversight.

I personally believe Park should be recognized too. Might as well have Hadfield up there as the number's already retired.

30 should hang from the rafters one day. Aside from that I think everyone else is up for debate. Howell maybe. It gets tougher as the years go by and the old guys start to fade away.

Gresch? No. Solid player, but not worthy of a retired number though IMO.

Same with Walter, despite how much I liked him as a player.

With Ratelle going up next season I think they're right where they should be, until #30 is ready to hang 'em up.

Just because you played the entire career doesn't mean you retire the #. Daneyko is questionable, but won 3 cups, this helps. Hank is next & no one on the horizon thus far that I see.
