Pirri in for Buch tonight.

Showcasing?

4 games left till the deadline.... either showcasing, or actually trying to get some life into their PP.

Pirri was hot for a little while there. Him and Zibenajad were shooting one timers from either side, and it was really effective.... then they stopped hitting the net.... then they stopped shooting.... then Pirri was scratched.

Buch played well vs Montreal, I'm guessing this is some level of showcasing Pirri.

If I were coaching a team facing the Rangers in the playoffs, I'm having guys crash the net and if they happen to knock down Hank and get a penalty so what. No one will make the player pay physically, and this PP doesn't scare anyone!

Yes, that's Cesar. Looks like Ron Ellis for Toronto; but can't place the other Ranger. Thought it was Irvine, but he never played with Maniago.
Maniago was probably the 2nd most successful goalie taken in the '67 expansion draft (after Bernie Parent). A couple of hall of famers (Sawchuk and Hall) were in there too, but were at the twilight of their careers. That year (I was 10 years old) was probably the year I became a true NYR and hockey fanatic

Interesting that 2 of those old guys (Plante and Hall) nearly stole a cup for the Blues.

I was travelling back from Dallas last night, so only got to see about 1 minute of the game...coincidentally it was the one minute when the Rangers scored the goal. Sounded like it was a great game to watch though, despite the low score
