The Rangers have five games remaining in the regular season:
•Pittsburgh on 3/31
•Philly on 4/2
•Washington on 4/5
•Ottawa on 4/8
•Pittsburgh on 4/9

Alain Vigneault was asked earlier in the week that he might take some of the remaining games to get players who have been sitting, into the lineup so they can get "game situations" before the playoffs.

He was asked about resting players and said that "rest" was a big word and that he isn't a fan of sitting players and wants his team to gather momentum and tempo heading into the playoffs.

Vigneault did say that guys who may have been playing through nagging injuries could get "some downtime" but overall he said "I'm not a big fan of resting guys."

Up front, Brandon Pirri hasn't played in the last 9 games and Matt Puempel played for the first time, on Tuesday, in 8 games.

On defense, Adam Clendening & Steven Kampfer haven't played in the past three games.

Nick Holden, Mats Zuccarello, JT Miller and Derek Stepan are the only Rangers to play in all 77 games this season.

Ryan McDonagh, Brady Skjei and Jimmy Vesey have all played in 76 games.

Adam Rotter: I'd sit Nick Holden for a game or two, Zuccarello for a game and maybe Ryan McDonagh for a game as well. The schedule is nicely spread out but Zuccarello has been playing hockey since the summer, Holden's game has slipped and McDonagh does everything and all three have earned at least one game off, even though they probably wouldn't want to take it.

It's possible that the Rangers go with their regular lineup until one of the final two games of the year and play their roster in one part of the back to back and then go with more of a reserve/skeleton crew in the other game.

This is about the only thing I trust AV with. "I'm not a big fan of resting guys." My only issue is, if Buchnevich is in the playoff plans, give him as much ice time as possible now. Make Pirri and Puempel the dark aces.

If you are a Ranger fan....and you want the best lineup we can put out there....this sentence is ridiculous. Bias is one thing, but someone needs a dose of reality.

Pirri shoots the puck...Albert is always getting up from being smushed in the corner...Im not saying Pirri is Flyers era Eric Lindros...But Albert is nothing more than 4th line mediocrity

Any good coach would have wonder boy on the 4th line..However the genius we have as a coach still has Miller on the 4th line.......

Apparently after a two goal performance Miller still needs "a fire lit under him".

Miller and Hayes have arguably been the best combo, even strength and on the PK, that the Rangers have had this season. Anyone with two functioning brain cells knows this.

AV on Miller..... He basically said that he loves what he sees when JT has the puck, it's his play without the puck that apparently needs some work. It also sounds like Buchnevich is in for Vesey

Kreider Stepan Zuccarrello
Nash Zibanejad Buchnevich
Grabner Hayes Fast
Miller Lindberg Puempel

I think were the practice lines.... not definate that's the lineup. It's pretty easy to switch Fast and Miller. I'd say. No harm in putting Miller on the 4th line to work on his D..... I mean, he DID score two goals starting on the 4th line last game......

Just about every guy up there deserves to be on the 4th line before Miller

Love Miller, but watch the last 3 games, 4-5 goals directly tied to his lack of coverage... and tons of blown assignments, bad decisions etc.. You can like a player, but you have to admit when the guy is screwing up... and some might say every player is screwing up why aren't they on the 4th line? this coach sucks, he hates Miller... blah blah blah. But you can't say that about the rest of the team, players may be in scoring slumps, but that's only one side of the game.

The coaching staff, as a group see's something that Miller needs to work on. "HE" has 5 games to get it done. Torts benched Kreider for the same reason's, overplaying plays, blown coverages, forgetting where he has to be etc... Like a guitarist who plays amazing leads, but can't keep the tempo, messes up the chords and forgets where he is in the song.

The Rangers should get every player a game in their last 4. 1 point gained by us or lost by the Bruins and we cannot be worse than the top WC (Boston is at Chicago at 12:30 today on a back to back...go Hawks). So we are going to be ahead of Boston barring all 16 combined points remaining going in the Bruins favor.

Looking up, 4 points lost by us or gained by the Pens and we cannot pass them. To me the OT/SO L to the Pens on Friday was the perfect result. We got a point to stay okay over Boston, but the Pens got 2 so we stay far enough behind them and won't pass a team with 800 injuries right now. Pens have 5 games/10 points remaining.

So don't play guys who are a little banged up. Let McD be 100% before he plays again. Give Staal a game off. Give Zucc a game off. Be smart in these last 4 please AV.

With the Pens win tonight, 1 point gained by us or lost by the Bruins and we are the top WC. So win tonight and we have Montreal for sure (Montreal needs 2 points to clinch the Atlantic). So it is looking like Montreal is now a given. We'll see how that series plays out.
