CLINCHING A BERTH
The Rangers clinched a berth in the 2017 NHL Playoffs by earning a point on Mar. 28 at San Jose. The Blueshirts have earned a playoff berth in seven consecutive seasons (since 2010-11) and in 11 of 12 seasons since 2005-06. The Rangers are one of three NHL teams that have made the playoffs in every season since 2010-11 (along with Chicago and Pittsburgh). The Rangers are one of four NHL teams that have made the playoffs 11 times in 12 seasons since 2005-06, along with Detroit, Pittsburgh, and San Jose.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Blueshirts are the only NHL team that has not been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs prior to the start of a regular season game at any point over the last 12 seasons (since 2005-06; 947 regular season games).

POINT TAKEN
New York earned its 100th point of the season on Apr. 2 vs. Philadelphia. The Rangers have earned at least 100 points for the third consecutive season (2014-15 - 2016-17) and for the 10th time in franchise history. The Blueshirts have registered 100 or more points in three consecutive seasons for the second time in franchise history (1970-71 - 1972-73). The Rangers are one of three NHL teams that have registered at least 100 points in every season since 2014-15 (along with Chicago and Washington).

FINAL COUNTDOWN
The Rangers have three regular season games remaining in the 2016-17 season. The Blueshirts' final three regular season games this season include one home game and two road games, and two of the three contests are against Metropolitan Division opponents.

WINNING WAYS
The Rangers' 47 wins in 2016-17 are tied for the seventh-most in one season in franchise history (New York also earned 47 wins in 1972-73). The Blueshirts rank fifth in the NHL in wins this season. In addition, the Rangers are tied for third in the NHL - and are tied for first in the Eastern Conference - in wins since the start of the 2013-14 season (191). The Rangers' 191 wins since 2013-14 are the most in any four-season span in franchise history.

GOALS GALORE
The Blueshirts have tallied three or more goals in each of the last five games and in 10 of the last 13 contests. The Rangers rank fourth in the NHL in goals per game in 2016-17 (3.15). The Rangers have tallied 252 goals this season, matching their goal output from the 2014-15 season, and the last season in which the Blueshirts recorded more than 252 goals was 2005-06 (257).

ON POINT
Rangers defensemen have recorded 52 points (15 goals, 37 assists) in 25 games since Feb. 11, and a Rangers defenseman has tallied a goal in 13 of the 25 contests over the span.

AV SQUAD
Alain Vigneault enters the contest with 613 career wins as an NHL head coach, and he is one win away from passing Jacques Martin for sole possession of 14th place on the league's all-time wins list among head coaches. Vigneault is one of three head coaches in Rangers history who have guided the team to the playoffs in at least four consecutive seasons (Lester Patrick and Emile Francis).

KING HENRIK
Henrik Lundqvist earned his 30th win of the 2016-17 season and his 404th career NHL win on Mar. 7 at Florida. He is the first goaltender in NHL history who has earned at least 30 wins in 11 of his first 12 seasons, and he is only the third goaltender in NHL history who has registered 30 or more wins in at least 11 different seasons (Martin Brodeur - 14; Patrick Roy - 13). By earning his 404th career NHL win, Lundqvist passed Brodeur for the most wins by a goaltender in his first 12 seasons in NHL history, and he enters the game two wins away from tying Glenn Hall for ninth place on the NHL's all-time wins list. With his next appearance, Lundqvist, who enters the contest with 740 appearances in his NHL career, will pass Brodeur for the most appearances by a goaltender in his first 12 NHL seasons in league history. He has never appeared in a game in which the Rangers were eliminated from playoff contention prior to the start of the contest.

SKJEI HEY KID
Brady Skjei has recorded 39 points this season, and his 39 points are the most a Rangers rookie defenseman has tallied since Brian Leetch in 1988-89. Skjei leads NHL rookies in even strength assists in 2016-17 (27). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Skjei is the first NHL defenseman who has recorded at least 27 even strength assists in his rookie season since Larry Murphy in 1980-81. He is also one of three NHL defensemen who have recorded at least 30 even strength points in their rookie season since 1993-94, along with John Carlson and Tyler Myers.

KREID-ING HIGH
Chris Kreider has established career-highs in goals (28) and points (52) this season, and he leads the Rangers in goals and games with a goal (24) in 2016-17. Kreider is one of four NHL players who have registered at least 28 goals and 130 hits this season.

STEP-AN UP
Derek Stepan has recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists) over the last 12 games, including six points (three goals, three assists) in the last six contests. He leads the Rangers - and has established a career-high - in shots on goal this season (203). Stepan is one of five NHL centers who have recorded at least 54 points and a plus-18 rating this season (Connor McDavid, Evgeni Malkin, Mikael Granlund, and Mikko Koivu).

HEY HEY HAYES
Kevin Hayes has established career-highs in assists (32), points (49), shorthanded assists (six), shorthanded points (seven), shots on goal (138), and game-winning goals (four), and he has tied his career-high in goals (17) this season. He leads the NHL in shorthanded assists, and he is also tied for the NHL lead in shorthanded points in 2016-17. Hayes is the first Ranger who has notched six shorthanded assists in one season since Mark Messier in 1996-97. Hayes leads the Rangers in points on the road this season (30 - 11 goals and 19 assists).

Sheesh Eddie. That pic is not a memory or series that makes me feel good. The friggin' John Druce year. That game was the beginning of the end for the Rangers in that series, and that fight had something to do with it IMO. Rangers dominated Game 1, then Druce scores a hat trick, Normand the Rock gets mauled, and the series changed. Had high hopes for that Rangers team, they had some guts and some good players. F Druce!

Wait. Fast is getting a "rest". What the **** for? Or is this AV's way of keeping his boy safe, because the last time against the Caps little Jesper got smeared into the boards and missed 8 games. Can't believe that I'm actually disappointed that Jesper is scratched tonight, but such is life as a Rangers fan.

The result was bad....but it pissed off Neil Smith enough to set his sights on Messier. Wish I could see a video of his tirade after losing the series.

Yep, Bernie looked great that game. The truth was that the Rangers lost Games 4 and 5 in OT (****ing Druce), the series was a bit closer than 4 games to 1. Those last two games were gut wrenching, made me feel ill for days after Game 5.

F;?;ing Druce came from nowhere and went back to it after the series. I hated Washington and their shi';ty announcers ever since. They should have won that series. Being a Rangers fan involves a lot of hate lol. Craps, Pisle, Pens, Mont, Kings, Bruins, Flyers, Lightning, and Debbies, to name my list.

That's what Torts said 1 of those playoff years with the Rangers, I needed a Fedetenko (sp?) some one unexpected to step up & get hot (i.e. the year he won with Tampa).

Agree on the hate. Caps aren't at the top of my list but they are surely on it. In order, mine is Flyers, Isles, Pens, Devils, Bruins, Caps, Canadiens, and then Ottawa (not sure why Ottawa more than TBL, CBJ or LAK, maybe just some players they've had that piss me off).

F Druce!

So true, that team had Guts and promise....Kris King, Ogrodnick, Shaw, Mullen & Kisio... some of my all time favorites.

To think, we're only 6 wins behind the big bad Craps... I can think of a few loses that could've had us closer, starting with the Two in Carolina.

Steady Eddie - 2017-04-05 12:35 PM

With those lines, I'm fully expecting to get our asses kicked, but as most wish, I've deleted the pic. I think we have a better record when I've started GDTs without a pic.

Well I still like the pics, great job as always Eddie. That one brought back some bad vibes though. Those damn maroon Caps jerseys. I hated seeing those things at MSG.

Druce had a mediocre career......... in 89-90 he had 14 playoff goals in 15 games, when he retired in 97-98 he had a total of 17 playoff goals in 53 games... and in 531 games only 113 goals. He just had a burst in those 15 games in 90.

Rangers are doing a good job playing smart hockey. I don't know that it's the trap, but they're not giving the Caps any room.

Grabner is flying. That line, of course, has been good.

Glass is playing like it's his last, also. Making it hard to scratch him

It's a 1-1-3 umbrella. Trap is 2-1-2 otherwise known as a "box" in basketball

A trap is usually a 1-2-2 .

I miss the first period because Canadian NHL network feed forgot to turn it on. And then I get dickhead elf doc and his stooge Pierre.
