Cant teach heart

This coach has had a big hand in choosing many of these players,so he chose a lot of heartless wonders then.

I don't agree with this 100%, especially with the Rangers. The GM, scouts and Dolan (an his inside advisors) have a large say... it's a lot like picking a Jury, a lot of push and pull and then settling for who you think may fit the best.

But most of the times the Coach is like a chef, who gets thrown a mish mash of ingredients by the owner and he has to make a five star cuisine out of it... perhaps with the strong request for something here and there.....

Can another chef come in and make a better meal out of these ingredients and this owner? that's always the question.

I know you don't live in NY so you probably don't see all the articles us New Yorkers do,but I've read numerous times that AV is consulted on just about every move they make.I would say minus the players that have been on the team from before his time here,he's had a hand in 80% of the players.

In addition,my major problem with him is his unwillingness to ever change his way of coaching. He keeps preaching the pass first powerplay, and continually ices a team that can only win when they are allowed to skate,As soon as a team is able to slow them down, they are lost. They need a better mix of lunchpail guys. The big guys they have are useless physically.Nash gets a pass because of all his concussion problems, but Hayes ia as big a pu**y as there is in the league.Kreider came up with so much promise as a physical forward that could score, but has gotten less and less physical each year under this coach.

Rangers 2017 - 2017-04-16 7:57 PM

Not much to say after that pathetic effort.

0-6 outscored 21-4 in our last 6 home playoff games. When the game still was in doubt we had about 15 shots and no goals. That may have been the easiest game to play for Price in the history of the NHL playoffs...well either tonight or one of Bishop's games against us.

Simply a pathetic effort across the board right from the start (outside of Hank and maybe Zucc).

If they no show game 4 like this and continue the embarrassing play at home in the playoffs, I will be right on board with AV needing to go. Won't defend anyone tonight.

Game 4 must win or season is over and we need to clean house of a lot of coaches and players. 13, 20, 93 leading the charge. Those 3 should be ashamed of themselves.

I suspect the year they went to the finals Mr. St. Louie had a lot to do with it in the dressing room. They are regular season wonders where there tic talk to stuff flys, as long as the players cover twice as much ice flying around like pinballs. You see lots of efforts during the season like tonight when the opposition traps a bit and chops the Ranger zone entries to shreds. And completely discombobulates the Rangers. What happens half way through the game when a blind man can see it ain't working? Nothing. No adjustment. Because they only know how to go tic tac to or stand at centre ice and let the opposition fly out of their end. Not even schooled in playing a two man in dump.
The good thing about this team is Gorton has he opportunity to keep his best top six forwards for the top two lines and make some changes in the bottom two lines, and a couple moves on defense and they can be right there in the mix. The end of Lundqvist's playing days are in sight and they have to try to retool for next year and a run. Preferably with a different coach.

LOL... It's very easy to read the daily news - post etc online (plus the forum)... (I also have a business in NYC and spend much time there). I don't disagree he has some say... but think it's a committee decision based on cap and needs.

But your points are valid on many things... this team has had a slow melt down since January, and whether these players are soft or the coaching style is soft is up for debate... one would have to wonder how Kreider-Miller-Hayes would play for the Flyers or Bruins... unleashed. Boyle the baby Giant, who people cried about on here was a soft piece of crap went on to be pretty productive with TB.

I think a lot of success on playoff teams, regardless of anything else comes down to game changer players - plus a good goalie.

There is no surprise to me the Rangers played like they did tonight. It's just a extension of how they played many games in the second half of the season. When you don't hold players accountable all season, it's going to blow up in your face come crunch time. And when Zabenijad, Hayes, Grabner, Stepan,Kreider and Miller are basically no shows, well the problem is magnified.
Lundqvist said it best after the game, they can't worry about the Canadians, they need to worry about themselves first. He nailed it the Rangers have to be better. No sugar coating no BS. We were not good enough.
I'm still waiting to hear what double mint has to say about the Ranger looks tonight.

Don't leave 10 out of the mix. Many were oh so mad when he was demoted down to the 4th line.....he earned that, and has earned a seat next to Clendo on the Chase Bridge after his playoff "performance" so far.

Interesting that the players you called out are all forwards....and I think you hit it on the head there. Our D was the bane of our existence during the season....but I cant say the same for the playoffs (Holden not withstanding). The 4th Line, Zucc, Vesey, and at times, Nash have been the only reliable forwards in these 3 games.

Holden is the only dman that has had problems so I put it nicely. Like you say going in most expected defense problems and a better showing by the forwards. I think you can put Zucc in with Nash and the fourth line for players who have competed most every shift. And their is no complaint on my end either for how McDonagh, Girardi, Skjei, Smith, and Staal who was pretty much on his own playing with Holden, has played. It always seemed to be the guy Holden was trying to contain causing the damage. And Klein was a improvement over Holden tonight to.
Tonight's loss was on the forwards.

PV must of went to the game....or he is beyond disgusted like the rest of us

Nah, had family obligations for Easter. DVR'ed the game, watched it, got nauseous. But not surprised by what I saw. This was a duplicate of the last four home playoff games under this coach.

Can anyone tell me what the Rangers' system actually is? They're supposedly a speed and finesse team, yet they've been trying to trade big hits with the more physical Montreal team. While I admire their willingness to get physical, it's not what they're built to do. So why does AV build a speed finesse team and then have them try to play physical? Why didn't he and Gorton try to beef up before the deadline when they knew who their first round opponent would be? More reasons to send this gum-chewing idiot and all his regular season wins packing.

Lastly, why hasn't AV prepared this team to play a system where they dictate the style of the game instead of the Habs dictating it. This series has the most hits of any of the other series. While I like that, I think it's fairly obvious that it doesn't serve the Rangers well considering how they're constructed player-wise. Another reason to send AV packing.

Every commentator on NBCSN was ripping the Rangers for their lack of team play and lack of intensity. The former players like Ferraro and Roenick were visibly disgusted by what they saw. A team coming home for Game 3 playing like that. So I know I'm not crazy when I say that this team, under this coach, has been disgusting at home in the playoffs for three seasons now. How much longer must this go on?

PV is right on this one. 6 straight home playoff L's outscored 21-4 and all have been essentially the same game. My issue is not just that we lost last night, it is how we lost. Another lifeless, emotionless, lack of effort home ice L in the playoffs. That's my issue. 15 shots and no real threats until garbage time with 4 minutes left in the game.

Series is not over, a win in game 4 and this is an even series that can still go either way, but we need to actually care and play hard with passion and emotion to have a chance in game 4. Not sure we know how to do that at home in the playoffs.

21, 10, 93, 13, 20 all need to show the F up. What a pile of BS from these guys through 3 games. Miller's penalty was so dumb it hurts. As Mandar said, that is why he gets demoted...dumb play. These guys need to find their balls. And 20 needs to go to the net hard and play his game, is he scared of Price now.

So yeah they can still win this series if they win must win game 4, but they need to raise their home ice level about 15 levels to have any shot.

Just a thought.....

Don't shoot me!

Cam Talbot has been very good for Edmonton this year, and is playing great in the playoffs so far. I wonder...If Nashville gave Weber to Montreal for Subban, I 'm thinking we could've gotten Weber and another player for Lundqvist.

Just a thought.....

Don't shoot me!

Cam Talbot has been very good for Edmonton this year, and is playing great in the playoffs so far. I wonder...If Nashville gave Weber to Montreal for Subban, I 'm thinking we could've gotten Weber and another player for Lundqvist.

lol....stop thinking.

that never......ever...would have happened.

I'm hoping Hank steals two more, and the offense shows up to win one........

Then off to the second round!

Dreams are nice.

This is my dream....

lol today we are still angry...but tomorrow the dream is born!

MJ did you go to the game?
No...my ticket is for game 6 if it lasts that long. Oddly enough, I've honestly had no interest in watching this series, despite the fact that I am a fan of both clubs.

Brooks wrote a scathing article today about what a joke MSG has become...But we all have known that

Why would that never happen?

Talbot could've help us be eliminated in the first round last year, we didn't need Hank for that. Are you saying Nashville never would've done that, or the Rangers?
