I know he was,but he was barely given a chance here.He couldn't have played more than half a season before we gave up on him.

How is it that the Flyers can find guys like Simmonds,Morin,Konecny, and Weise that seem to be able to skate and play physical, but the Rangers never can.

Dale Weise was drafted by and played for The Rangers

I know he was,but was given no chance here, before we gave up on him.He played 10 games for the Rangers.

Yeah,or the guys in the 70's like Dupont,Curt Bennett,J Bob Kelly,Durbano,or Bert Wilson.Or Cairns who Muckler hated, and while he wasn't the best player, was the best fighter in the league for a 3 or 4 year period, and a top 10 tough guy for almost 10 years.

Yes and no.Do I think he's a good player,no.Does he bring something that this team always lacks, yes.Tired of seeing this team get pushed around 95% of the time since the early 70's.

Losing that game after Don Maloney knocked that puck in from 4 ft off the ice was criminal.

Whatever roster decisions AV makes, I'm sure it will be the wrong one. Nieves was abysmal last night. Said it a hundred times. He's not an NHL player. Shame Fontaine had to waste his time playing with him and at wing. Reality is with Desharnais making the team which he will because AV loves midgets. There really is no room for any of these kids when Fast comes back.

Hayes, Miller, Zucc, Kreider, Nash, Zibanejad, Grabner, Desharnais, Buchnevich, Puempel, Fast, Vesey

AV loves Puempel it seems. Gorton has done some good things but he's really dropped the ball this off-season. He should have dealt Holden by now. Now that he has seen the play of Chytil and Andersson, he should deal Nash. He won't. Essentially, all these kids were playing for nothing. Under thickhead AV, they never had a chance to make this team from day 1 of camp.

I'm not a big fan of Tony D but my god, he is a talented player.

Why not?

Not a big fan of defensemen who can't play defense, but, if he can add enough offense to make up for the defensive lapses, then fine by me.

Not arguing but I have to see more of him before I pin can't play defense on him. I haven't seen any big issues.

I've seen enough. Check out Philly's first goal at the end of the first period. Bad decision to pinch, because there's enough Flyers around and not enough support. He gets caught. Rangers are actually able to recover and have numbers back, but then he and the forward just lose a check and stand around while there's a Philly forward in front of the net and the goal is scored.

Not expecting him to be perfect but there's enough of those types of plays that it's a bit concern. I will say, on the flip side, if his pinch does work and keeps the puck in the zone, then maybe the Rangers can maintain possession and do something with it. And then there's nothing to criticize. But he's a young player and I think just needs to learn a bit when to take the risk and when not to. Like I said he's very good with the puck, skates well with it at speed, good vision. Has all the offensive tools, just needs to remember his responsibilities.

Graves was much better last night, his best game of the preseason. Not sure if it's too little too late, I don't see him getting a spot over either DeAngelo or Pionk at this point, and that's even assuming Holden gets moved. Not to say he couldn't be an NHL defenseman at this point but it's a numbers game.

Puempel hasn't really done anything to earn a roster spot. I'm guessing he's 13th F, if not then AHL.

Those positional plays are hypothetically coachable.... there's room for improvement for DeAngelo if he stays within the system.

That's the thing with preseason, a lot of these guys are just playing hockey, compared to playing Rangers' hockey.

Pionk has lost a few puck battles, too... he's an offensive defenseman... DeAngelo has more skill, though.

I'd rather ditch Staal whatever he can bring, and keep both Pionk and Tony.... but that won't happen.

So if I choose one, it'll be the more experienced, more skilled DeAngelo

Ideally they would move Holden, and platoon Staal, Pionk, DeAngelo as the 5/6/7. Just sit whoever isn't playing well.

If Staal ends up sitting a lot, then great, that's more leverage for him to accept a trade somewhere. (Salary retained, add sweetener, etc) If one of the kids ends up sitting too long, then send them down and give a different kid an opportunity.

If they don't move Holden, I would play Staal-Deangelo with Holden as 7th. If Deangelo needs to sit, let holden play a couple of games and then put Deangelo back in so he doesn't get stale.
