The Rangers have picked him up on waivers from the Stars.

I’m hoping it’s movement towards Zibanejad, Miller, Hayes, and Cracknell at center and Desharnais who hasn’t done much of anything being shown the door. Described as a gritty forward he just might do a job with Fast and Carey who imo played his best game last night and has earned some more looks.

10 goals and 16 points is pretty good for his role last season. Roughly 10 minutes a game. Carey, Cracknell, and Fast could bring a badly needed physical element to the Rangers. It’s good to roll 4 lines but it’s good to have some diversity.

But AV doesn't want a "physical element" in his line up.

not really...he got in 2 games as an 18 year old.....his contract will slide, as they made an early determination on him....a smart thing to do.

Whetted his appetite....and when he comes back next year....more mature and more skill, it will be fine.

It would have been botched if they let him string along

Why? He is not ready and he is not going to get ready by practicing. Did you expect a low 1st round 17 year old pick to miraculously turn into a top 6 NHL center? The 9 game rule exists for reason. Postponing the start of his contract by a year is the smart move.

I tend to agree. Keeping him up here and playing him 12 minutes over two games accomplishes nothing. No PP time where had most of his good preseason moments. Why bother. Unless they are schmoozing him to play over here.

Then dont bring him here at all....Let him develop in Europe. Then see what happens next year...Like what they did with Lias

I don't know, but the AV Rangers looked pretty darn physical to me against Montreal.

I'm all for smart - agitator - physical players, just as long as it doesn't equal penalty's against.

I don't think it was stupid at all, give him a taste of the big league and MSG... give him something to work hard for... he and the coaches now have a gauge on whats needed to get him prepared. He now has a realistic focus on what he needs to do to make it... instead of "dicking" around in the minors thinking he was good enough.

I hope in the future this is how they "dick" around with some of the young players that show progress, but not quite ready.

Nobody knows what was discussed or the intent with Chytil, they knew he wouldn’t last, they thought he’d last 9 games, they thought he’d be here for the year ect. They very well could have told him he wouldn’t last so I’m not losing much sleep over it. A taste and a feel is good, but any player at any level that gets cut takes it hard. You always think your going to make it. Personally I’d like to see him in North America and he’s young enough to benefit learning a North American game even in junior.

Its not stupid to let him play 9 games and send him back...but he made the opening night roster as a top 6 forward...To dress him and let him sit on the bench is stupid....and Im sure Chytil thought he was here for good

I'm not sure he thought he would make it or not, in an interview on MSG he was pretty realistic about his chances and said he would try his best, but knew it was hard... so perhaps he realistically see's there are things he does have to work on and takes it as a positive.

Why does any team let any young player make the team, see he's not ready and not play him? Wasn't the first time, wont be the last time.

Why do you think they did it? To destroy him? to dick him around?

Saw an ostentatious game last pm and the gizmo snorter bathe perplexity of the dermis led to massive defections from the perabellum snitch via an exodus offshoots from the nasal cavity. If the cletus detaches from the slimus than the weenus gets in the way.

My biggest issue here is AV making irrational decisions. Why dress 7 defensemen to have one of those 7 (DeAngelo) play for only 3:45 and sit the entire 3rd period when he clearly has better vision than Kampfer and Holden, against montreal he had 3 stretch passes that nearly went for goals. Why Kampfer and Holden have been given 2nd pairing minutes when they are not the best options, is beyond me, and here i thought that Ruff would be making those decisions and not AV (who knows maybe ruff is).

I dont know with AV.....Chytil sitting in the press box is not making him want it any more than sitting on the bench. Stupid mind games that he plays with the kids.

We are in the beginning of the season let him play and make the mistakes early on, we are not at crunch time at this moment, that is why there is 9 games before you have to send him back.

Hank sent a coded message in his interview after their win on Sunday, "It's nice to finally play with people who know what their doing out there' .... I don't know if he was referring to players or the system they were trying to play.

There's a lot of things I don't like about AV, specially after that Ottawa series, but him playing mind games with kids, I don't see it. Like people always say the same thing about Miller, AV is destroying him... but mean while, Miller makes 6 or 7 huge mistakes a game.. fundamental mistakes and missed assignments...He has a very low hockey IQ, how many hours do the coaching staff spend with Miller showing him on film what needs to be done, if Miller had the Hockey sense of Fast or Nash he'd be an Allstar.

The Rangers started 0-2... a bad start can sink you in specially in this crazy division we're in... so I think in todays NHL, early is crunch time.

Cracknell sucks. He's better than Carey though who is totally useless. I guess our 4th line will be Fast-Desharnais-Cracknell. I don't see the point of having a midget centering your 4th line. We can only hope they can bring Lindberg back. He was perfect in that role.
