Just wondering how many games we have to slip under .500 before Chewey Degum gets the ax. We are currently 4 games under.

If we go 8 games under .500 then AV will be on his way out.

I said when Ruff was hired that AV would be gone by Xmas....revised that to Thanksgiving after game 3.

Gorton is not going anywhere, but sadly for AV the same can't be assumed as the clock is ticking. I'm not so sure the team didn't give up on this coach & needs a change. What does an NHL coach get save a few here & there 3-4 years at most.

Apparently AV was the one that brought Ruff here.... I don't think Lindy is a factor here.

Darryl Sutter or bust

That said, I voted on a turn around....

We're 1-5, but 3 and 4 game winning streaks aren't uncommon. They'll be at .500 sooner than we think is my guess.

AV plays favorites ...forgets who is on the bench....has Stepan Staal and Holden out there at the end of the game...The team now couldnt care less out there...Its time...he has to go

I'm somewhat torn on this - statistically the Rangers have been playing better than their record indicates BUT if AV is close to being replaced then the ends justifies the means.

I'm not saying that with a better coach we'd be 5-0 but I do not see AV being able to take this team to a Cup. In fact at this point I can guarantee that all the issues that we have with him - mismanagement of the defense, overreliance on veterans, being punitive with ice time, etc - all those things will actively hinder us from winning a Cup.

This may be AV's last week with the Rangers. We have Pittsburgh up next, rivalry game with Islanders, then Predators. If we go 0-3 there that puts us at 1-7? I can't imagine Gorton holding his cards at that point.

If it happens, they better have a better replacement than Ruff. They need a younger coach who knows how to utilize the roster strengths and not feel beholden to certain players. Can't be hiring the same old/recycled coaches.

Very good points... I'm the last one to blame everything on the coach. But since January of last year this team has been barley .500. His coaching against Montreal was decent, but he lost me against Ottawa and directly cost them games they were winning by multiple goals in the final minutes.

After a certain time, a coach's message gets lost, he loses his team, on top of all the other problems a team is having personnel wise..... how much time did LA give Sutter? and he won two cups with them.

We won't know what half these players are worth until he's gone... specially players like Kreider - Miller - Hayes who showed windows of promise, but never flourished consistently under AV's system.

Agreed, Ruff - Av - Torts... all sold on their own styles and trying to fit round pegs in square holes.

But you know it would be Ruff for at least the rest of this season.

My "prediction" is probably nothing more than wishful thinking, but .....

with the Pens coming in tomorrow, if the game is a total blowout - **** show - dumpster fire, then AV is canned the next day. Two whole days of practice and preparation leading up to a home game against the Cup champs, and they play uninspired sloppy hockey? Oh yeah, he's gone that morning.

On the other hand, if they play well and maybe even win, he gets a reprieve. Maybe until after the holidays.

Look at the line combos, and the defensive pairings at practice today.

Then explain to me how AV has a job here

I don't plan on drinking enough at the game tonight to get through a blowout so they have to win tonight then lose 5 more and get AV fired.

Nash-Zibanejad-Zuccarello
Kreider-Desharnais-Miller
Vesey-Hayes-Fast
Grabner-Cracknell-Buchnevich

McDonagh-DeAngelo
Skjei-Smith
Staal-Shattenkirk

is what AV had yesterday

I'd rather see

Nash Zibanejad Zuccarello
Kreider Miller Buchnevich
Grabner Hayes Vesey
Deshernais Cracknell Fast

McDonagh Shattenkirk
Skjei Smith
Staal DeAngelo

It only takes a few adjustments from AV's setup to get to mine... problem is, adjustments only happen when things are going wrong....

Miller has dominated the faceoffs.... how he doesn't remain at center is a mystery

Darryl Sutter

or

Mark Messier

Those are my only two names to throw in the hat. If the next coach isn't one of those two, I don't see a chance for much more than what we have now.

Messier was runner up to AV when he got hired

As much as I love Messier, he is NOT the answer here. If it isn't Sutter then they NEED to find a younger coach, as stated up above earlier. someone who understands today's NHL. Messier has NO experience behind the bench, the game has changed dramatically since he's had ANYTHING to do within the game. I say ixnay on someone so removed from the scene right now. Love ya Moose, but the time is NOT right!

Make that change, this is a mess. The team is a disaster. He has a good run here, time to put this out of its misery.

I keep on hearing Sutters name thrown around... But I get a feeling his coaching days may be done, he's been available since April, and one would think he would've started the season with a new club.. From other hockey forums, the rumor is he's content with his 3,000 acre farm in Viking, Alberta, raising beef cattle.

There are stories, one interviewing him and he wants to coach again. He said it would have to be a good situation. Not sure New York would work for him and his family.
That’s a huge hurdle for Gorton if he cans Double mint who will be his replacement. If Sutter turned down the Rangers then who? Ruff the most likely because who else is there? Not exactly a coach buying market.

TBH I was never impressed with Bylsma, or Shero, who were made out to be these geniuses due to their time in Pittsburgh. You give any team that much talent just dropped in their lap and they'll have success. Bylsma has put his own coaching abilities into serious doubt, Shero has made some good moves in NJ but they still have a very long way to go.

I have no doubt that Eichel bitched and moaned and got his way, but that's what's going to happen, these disputes only have one way of ending.
