Hopefully Eddie will move this beauty into the game day thread. I remember a time when everything stopped when these two teams played. Intense games with unbridled passion and aggression. Sadly now that Gary has converted the NHL into a no hit beer league, intensity, passion and aggression are a no no.

Awesome video, thanks for posting!!

Rangers haven't played like that in years, flyers still can...

Missing the days of Kocur, Domi, Langdon, Barnaby, Orr, Prust.....

Was that the fight McPhee was in where the linesman restricted his punching while the other guy was swinging? Put George at a disadvantage.

I did a little look around sounds like it was Dave Brown. I remember that fn linesman holding his arms.

Today's NY Post a Brooks article and he says

""Finally, this narrative being offered that the Rangers are playing well defensively except for a few key mistakes at key times reminds me that I was an A student in Physics at Bronx Science except for the C’s on the mid-term and final exams."""

Well said Larry.

The Brown fight started out with Brown coming out strong and then McPhee got his footing and starting throwing some good ones back. Then dumbass jay Caufield jumped in to ruin it.

All Star Game was weak...NHL cant do anything right...Commercial break after a goal?....Games sucked because they all went half speed out there and they all tried to make the perfect pass instead of shooting when they were wide open

This has been happening since the 90s when checking was removed from the game. Now, I understand the sentiment, but I'll never understand the players' decision to lollygag through the game as if it was the Ice Capades.

“”Alain Vigneault said on Wednesday that he is expecting "quite a few players" to "elevate their game as the Rangers resume the regular season tonight against the Leafs.””

Which brings up the question “why didn’t you expect this 40 games ago coach?”

Well if the talking heads haven’t touched on changing the coach yet it has to have entered the post game discussion tonight.

Alain Vigneault met with the media on MSG following the loss to the Leafs and said:

On the game, "hockey is a game of mistakes and there weren't a lot of opportunities on both sides in the first two periods but for the looks that they got, they made us pay and we weren't able to make them pay for any of the looks. At the end of the day that sort of sums it up pretty easily."
Why was the team "scared" to make plays, "sometimes after games, players mis-say what they really want to say. I'm not sure that whoever told you that, that is his intention. There were definitely some plays that we needed to make, whether it be on their first goal, when we didn't handle the puck twice like we should have or on the second goal when we didn't check the way we can with the structure we were supposed to have. That has nothing to do with being scared, just not making the plays. At the end of the day, there weren't a lot of looks, especially in the first two periods from both teams, but they were able to capitalize."
"we had two really good practices prior to this, we should have been better than this."
On Buchnevich, "in the second period he took an elbow to the jaw so they took him out. I haven't asked."

Well the good news is we got some looks.

I can't believe this moron of a coach doesn't even ask about his players health. He said the same thing about Hayes and Grabner when they missed some games..

And, now Mr Genius is moving Vesey from 4th line to 1st. This bum thinks players are yo-yos

It's not up to him

That being said, he's not going anywhete.... nor should he.

They can trade Nash Grabner and Holden.... McDonagh in the Summer maybe, and still ice a contender next year. I bet JVR comes here on a discount.

Shestyorkin is almost here, and I want Lundqvist mentoring him when he arrives.

We need a coach who the young players can thrive under...AV ain’t it.....without great goaltending he is a very mediocre coach....we also need to adapt to the cap world...no loyalty thank you contracts that last forever after the players best years have passed...lock up young kids yes...we lead the league in buyouts....team is 90 years old and only 4 Cups and only 9 retired numbers when Ratelle goes up....and you can argue there are a couple fugaze retired numbers up there

I know most of us try and tune Sam and Motormouth but if one had listened with half an ear, something would have stood out -- Sam kept commenting on the fact that the Leafs had their young players on the ice in crucial situations (he even seemed amazed when he saw two rookie d-men on the ice together)....last minutes of a period, important faceoffs in defensive zone, etc. -- namely giving them responsibility and learning experience that will prove invaluable down the road.

When was the last time ANYONE in Rangers management even considered the possibility?

This gem from chewy after the Preds game.

“”””On the level of concern, "we've had, in my estimation - this is my opinion, we've played some pretty good hockey but not gotten the results that I believe some of that hockey should have gotten us. At the end of the day the results are what they are, right now we need to regroup. We will work on getting better tomorrow and get ready for our next game."”””

Which raises the question WTF is he watching. This coach has lost the team, time to take him to the bus depot and buy him a ticket.
