to Hartford. Rumours of a Kreider for Galchenyuk, that's about what I'd expect. Worst 2 centers off Montreal's fabulous starting last years roster yippee. A terrible trade if it happens and unfortunately he's going to be the guy to go to try the shakeup.

One of two scenarios,

1) A trade has been agreed to in principle and they're moving pieces around to accomodate
2) They don't know what the hell they're doing.

Hartford has 8 young defensemen at this point - DeAngelo, Graves, Pedrie, Sproul, Pionk, Pedie, Gilmour, Crawley. They ALL need playing time. WTF is going on.

I tend to agree. I was not sure that DeAngelo was NHL ready when we acquired him - since he's been here however I will say that he hasn't been put in situations to succeed (honestly few of our D has been) so AHL is probably the best bet for him at this point.

Not sure what the next step is, perhaps call up Graves or Sproul?

I don't know what more AV would need to do to put DeAngelo in a possition to succeed.

They tried him with Staal
They tried him with McDonagh
He gets PP time

Yeah he was scratched twice, but he also caused some absolutely terrible turnovers.

1 point in 8 games averaging 16/17 minutes a night... Aside from the last two where we dressed 7 defenseman, but of the two games it was the one where he only got 5 minutes that The Rangers won....

The Rangers as a whole haven't done well. McDonagh has sucked. Staal has been our best defenseman.

That said AV was interviewed today, and it seems that there is another move coming by the way he answered the questions....

He said he wants 4 lines 12F 6D

Unless he plans to have the 4 Cs be

Zibanejad
Hayes
Miller
Deshernais

There will be a new center coming here tomorrow.

Maybe that means Nieves? But I doubt it

DeAngelo has more talent than Holden ever will. DeAngelo doesn’t make any more mistakes than Holden. DeAngelo is not one of Double mints boys, Holden is, end of story.

Deangelo is averaging 12:38 per night, not 16/17, and has been scratched twice in 10 games.

He has gotten plenty of PP time, ironically I don't see him as being particularly effective on the PP. He's a defenseman that skates the puck and joins the rush, in a static PP scenario you've taken two of his biggest tools away. Not all offensive defensemen have the same skillset. He may well develop into an effective PP defenseman but he's not there yet.

He's also had a litany of partners, something that is a shared problem among the defense - few of them can develop any consistency with partners if they're going to be constantly shuffled around.

Holden is a prime example of poor asset management. He finished last season with good numbers, and pretty much everyone knew/expected that it was time to sell high on him. You could sucker someone into taking a 30+ point defenseman. But in the offseason? We hold on to him, and now, continue to play and devalue him further and further. Now, we'll probably hold on to him until his contract runs out in June, and we'll lose him for nothing.

DeAngelo averages 12:38 to be exact because he only played 5 against Nashville.... he's only played in 8 games. 5 of them were 16+ minutes, the last two games and another 1 he was one of seven D men so everyone saw less time.

Most nights were 16-17 minutes, though..

He'd spend 2 periods with McDonagh then get moved to 3rd pair before becoming the new 7th d-man.

Spike in the coffin? How many times did we say that about Sather... at the end of the day, Dolan is the real problem. Just look at the Knicks... the crown jewel of MSG and one time the NBA... 20 years of utter embarrassment. The Rangers are like indoor arena football to Dolan, the Islander fan.

I don’t think Gorton has the cachet with Dolan Sather does.

While I agree that Kreider is amazingly inconsistent...despite his obvious talents, I cant agree that he disappears in the playoffs. Typically, he is a very good playoff performer.

However, we do have a forward who has one goal in 41 career playoff games (with lots of icetime).

Despite his lack of playoff goals, I think Miller has more upside than Kreider. Kreider's toned down hitting has made his game less effective.

The Rangers lack an elite goal scorer, so goal expectations for Kreider and Miller are higher than they should be. Neither will ever be an elite goal scorer, but both can be productive.

To many underachievers on this team to start trading them. The situation points to a common problem. Great well paid minds are working on this as we speak. I have little doubt they will see the light some day. Probably will be after double mint sucks the future out of the Rangers, but one can hope.

In defense of Kreider, how much of his bad play falls on the coach? H ow much crap did he take after the Price hit? How much has he affected Kreider's play with AV's lack of coaching ability? We may never know but trading Kreider for Galchenyuk is Definitely NOT the answer.

I remember how terrified DelZotto looked playing under Tortso. He was so afraid of making a mistake and getting chewed out that it affected his game terribly. Or Tortso's "Hagelin is too fast for the PP".

I understand the frustration with the lack of consistency in Kreider's play, but past a certain point you have to accept that the player that shows up is often average and on occasion he turns it all on. Sure if he "brought it" every night he'd be a 75 point power forward that terrorized defensemen and goalies. But he's not that guy. Still every year he finishes with 20-something goals and 40-50 points. He's not an elite player in part because his hands and shooting aren't that good, if you look at him with the expectation that he's a average-to-good second liner, he's playing and producing just fine.

At least, I'd say there are much bigger problems on this team than Kreider's play.

Gorton drafted Lias and Heatl Miser explicitly with the intent they would replace Stepan and Oscar on the 12 forward roster from Opening night forward....That is scary...
