If indeed AV gets the axe, Gorton shouldn't be far behind. Signing rebound machine Ondrej Pavelec was an inexcusable move.

On AV, I believe Clifford Franklin said it best. "Will somebody please, please, get this azzhole out of here."

We had Talbot, Raanta as backups. Now we have Pavelec? Considering the state of goaltending in the NHl, there are only two kinds of goalies - good and bad. There is no average, which is what we need in a backup.

This was a overall bad game for everyone involved on NYR. I don’t think you can pin it all on Pavs, but he was definitely fighting it, and the rebounds were crazy. There IS talent on this team, but they don’t play a good team game. Maybe it’s coaching or just the change in locker room, but I think it’s becoming obvious that Step was a galvinizing force on this team, even if he wasn’t the ideal #1 centre. I don’t know how you fix this now that we are into a good chunk of the season, bc the chemistry just isn’t there! They can play on talent and come back and blah blah blah, but MAC isn’t a protypical Captain and probably would be better in a support leadership role.
It might be time to seriously consider blowing this thing up. The VGK are going to destroy us Tuesday, and aside from Buch, Miller, MikaZ, Zucc, Skeji... it’s probably time to blow this up and start over

This bunch of players -- I won't call them a team -- is a complete disaster when playing in their own end.
Be it clearing the crease, defensive coverage, dealing with odd-man rushes, dealing with even-man rushes, clearing the puck out of the zone, winning faceoffs, breakout plays, getting to rebounds, battling for the lose pucks on the boards...
They do NOTHING right it seems! It's painful to watch...

Oh and the fact that they come out flat almost every game (worst first period goal differential in the league) falls completely on the coaches at this point.

Gorton signs Pavlec on Allaires say so. Nobody would argue with Allaires choice. You don't argue with the guy that found you Talbot and Raanta. Send Allaire out to find another one.

They have stopped playing for the coach. Double mints lack of accountability for some and over accountability for others has come home to roost. Nobody is listening to him.

The biggest problem is that popular belief is Ruff would be the one to replace AV if he was fired...

But our problems are because of our play in our own zone, and still the power play...

In other words, the two areas that the assistant coaches get a say.

AV may be a problem with his line combos, but Arniel as ran this PP for years now..... whether this team was top of the division, the Conference, a Cup contender, or now basement dweller... the PP has been aweful.

And our defensive play has not gotten better with Ruff instead of Buek, in fact it has gotten worse...

So, if they are to make a coaching change, it better be Gorton behind the bench, and the whole lot of them gone.

I don't want Lindy or Arniel manning this ship.

I didn't see this game, but I hear Nash did well... if the 1st period wasn't such a blow out, the game would have been winnable.

We have half as many points as The Devils, and they have 2 games in hand....

Just to rub some salt in our wound....

Yep and letting Stepan and Oscar go with the idea that Lias and Heatl was going to just come right in and replace them seamlessly

The only way I’d be good with Ruff if it was to finish the season. That way you get a look without a commitment on the Rangers part and they have their options open for the off season. I don’t see Ruff doing that it could go bad on him and drastically affect future coaching opportunities.
My choice would be Sutter, he’s a ass kicker and they need to be pushed, prodded and challenged. Expect a couple or three good seasons and his style runs it’s course to. Only a blind man can’t see the lack of effort and intensity all over the ice.
Assistants coaches have to take a share of the blame, but blame for every shortcoming under their responsibility falls on the head coach, every thing they do is under the head coaches guidelines and supervision. That’s why as bad as the Rangers powerplay has been under Vigneault, Arniel is still here. He’s following orders same as Ruff.
When they practice the pp, pk, breakouts, coverages ect Vigneault is right there running things. The pathetic efforts and execution is all on him, no one else.

That would explain it. Unfortunately the Brothers Allaire are better at developing talent than picking it. Francois pushed for Reto Berra in COL so the Avs flipped the Flames a 2nd rounder for him and immediately signed him for 3 years. 2 years later they traded him.

I guess it could've been worse. They could've signed Antti Niemi.

Benoit is not Francois and had nothing to do with Berra. Finding Raanta and Talbot is a huge achievement in anybody’s books.

I don't think that was the idea. I think it was, hope that Zbad and Hayes make enough strides, and Desharnais is good enough, to make up for the loss. And if Lias or Chytil are ready then all the better.

With all due respect to Zbad's hot start, he has not matched defensively what Stepan did with this team. Hayes has had flashes of brilliance but he's not a consistent 2C yet (and I wouldn't expect him to be with as many different linemates he's had). Lias was sent back (perhaps prematurely) and AV isn't satisfied with Chytil's play so Hartford benefits there.

There's no one thing that led to the change from the 2016 team to the 2017 team but all these are cumulative. We've gotten worse in a number of areas, and i struggle to think of even one area where we're better.
