Dont know how i became this henrik hater. I dont hate him, i am just a realist and dont blow sunshine all over his ass like some people do. Same with mcdonagh, hes a nice solid dman, but is he a good captain? I dont think so. We as a rangers fan base have always over valued our players. Look at staal n girardi situation. If we sign mcdonagh to a long term high $$ deal it will burn us. Hes a good 3rd dman, but lets be realistic with what these guys are. I would love if they somehow won the stanley cup out of nowhere, but honestly i just dont see it happening and with the rangers history not being on my side i can be negative. As said before players cant be blameless.

Its not like im pulling a fireman ed and quitting being a fan and then jumping back on when they get good again. Now that guy is a loser.

Rangers should of traded Henrik after they lost in the Finals....His value was thru the roof and we could of got assets to rebuild...instead the team gave him a 7 year albatross contract...That on top of trading Cally and 2 #1's away.....Mismanagement at its best

You would be one brave GM to trade a goalie largely responsible for getting to the finals during the following off season. At the time many thought the Rangers were capable of getting right back there the next season, which would make trading him job suicide for a GM.
Now at some point in time I’m all for getting as much as possible in a trade if there is a right time for the Rangers. The problem is the Rangers are never really out of it because of him. He’s still a franchise goalie and replacing him is almost impossible.

Hahaha true...but its a new NHL...cap world and you don't need a great goalie to win anymore....Corey Crawford...Chris Osgood...who knows on Matt Murray yet..

Might be worth it at a discount... which he may take a significant discount in order to not move his kids.

I take Nash if the contract makes sense. He's a solid player.... 7.8 million is just a ridiculous number for him

Yep I would take him back....at a discount........but AFTER we deal him for assets first

Winnipeg is having a great season...I would trade Mac to them for Trouba...in a heartbeat

I'm trying to understand your logic with this trade scenario. You maintain that we should trade Mac because he has lots of miles on him, and he would be due for an expensive contract.

So why would Winnipeg trade arguably their best defenseman for a guy with the traits you yourself don't want? Is Winnipeg looking to trade for a player with lots of miles on him and who will be looking for an expensive contract? And they want that player so bad that they would be willing to trade such a player who you drool over?

I also love the hypocrisy of this board, i get grilled for saying we deserve to lose games when we turtle late n stop playing, but meanwhile mantards here want us to lose so the coach is fired. Makes a lot of sense.

Hypocrisy? There is a difference between saying that we "deserve" to lose, and saying "I hope we lose" (ironically, we won that game).

But it's cute to see you trying to rationalize your own words....maybe interspersed with some of those creative mantard comments....

We as a rangers fan base

Can't believe you actually wrote that, but all I could read was blah, blah, blah....I'm not a hater but a realist.

I guess you believe you are enlightening us with your gift of "realism". Wanting us to lose is so "realistic"....who knew?

Mac is still a good player...he's 28....can help Winnipeg now and a few more seasons...Trouba doesnt want to be there...we can add a prospect too if need be....In a heartbeat you do it...get younger....No way in hell you sign Mac long term after next season

If we resign Mac after next season to a Staal, Girardi, Henrik contract...then it's same ole incompetent NYR management

Yes the Jets...Mac is the one with the offense element to his game

But if Mac has all the miles on him, will be a UFA that will get a huge contract, again I ask why Winnipeg is going to trade their best D for Mac? Because Mac has a better offensive game they will be able to use for a small amount of time before he becomes a UFA? And give up their younger, very talented and less expensive player?

Based on your logic, this isn't very good asset management by Winnipeg, no?

Do you believe that having Mac over Trouba gives them a better shot at the cup? Do you think Winnipeg believes that?

C'mon.....you gotta do better than that to try to explain why that deal would be a possibility. It's more than just throwing out names of guys you want for perceived "flawed/mileage/contract status" players of our own.

If mac is better, why would Winnipeg demand we add more to that trade? Why not a straight up one for one? Its because he isnt better.

McDonagh's strength is his speed.... he wins races to pucks. He can defend against anybody, and join the rush because of his ability to skate and back check.... and he's so strong.... He has good hands and vision, but it's all about his speed and strength.

All of that is taken away with the ab injury. He has sucked so far this year because of it. When he returns, assuming he is 100%.... this team will be world's better.

Smith or Holden out.... McDonagh in? Gold.

Now, if you wanted to trade somebody else to get Trouba, so he can play with McD...

McDonagh Trouba
Skjei Shattenkirk
Staal Kampfer

I elect Rick Nash

So now Winnipeg takes Nash in return for Trouba? Do you do that if you are Winnipeg?
