Larry Brooks @NYP_Brooksie

Similar condition as Vasilevskiy. Kreider expected to miss 6-8 weeks. Tough blow but opportunity for Lettieri.

How the hell do they find a bloodclot in the arm? Wonder what the symptoms are.

I like Kreider, people may say he's an underachiever, but with all considered (Torts - AV), he scored 28 last year and over 20 goals 3 of his 4 years as a pro, (1st year 17 goals in 66 games) he has 11 goals in 37 games this year and was on track for another over 20 goal season. If anything he's been very consistent.

At 26, his size -speed & strength many many other teams would grab him. The scouting on him has him right where he's supposed to be, So I don't see where he's underachieved except for perhaps not playing more physical and him getting lost here and there.. some of that has to do with the coaches style and line debacles. Where else can you get a player like this for less than $5Mil a year?

Agree for the most part. He's a bargain at today's rates - and his scoring is very consistent, though not game to game consistency.

I think the frustration for some (along with the game to game consistency) is that he doesn't always use his size the way he should be able to. I really think that's part the crap he took regarding the Carey Price bullcr^p and part AV's influence on his game. Unfortunately he will end up on another team in a few years (if not sooner) and with a coach that encourages him to use his muscle, he'll thrive and all of the Ranger fans who wanted him gone will be complaining about why did we trade one of our homegrown guys

Mysterious upper body injury?

Kreider had taken part in the team’s morning skate in Westchester, but uncharacteristically had left the ice and the locker room early.

Well false alarm most likely, and I would rather give another coach a shot with Kreider before trading him. May as well flush this thread.

Vinnie Lettieri called up, who I'm looking forward to seeing, he had some good moments during training camp. . Related, yes because Kreider is probably not going anywhere but is injured.

Yup... he will thrive on many other teams... and I think AV's style does affect his game, as it does many other Rangers...so many players league wide are not consistent game to game, only a handful of high priced stars....... but he did score 28 last year... His contract ends July 2020, hopes he last here and makes it to another coach who will complement his style better.

If they do trade him, they would have to match - size - speed - 20 goals a season and age, for the price.... or a top four D-man.

Say what you will about him but many players league wide say when he's on the ice you have to beware, because he's either skating past you or through you. He has tremendous strength and I think holds back in fear of killing someone.

Sometimes not noticing him isn't a bad thing, sometimes the lines and players cancel themselves out because of match-ups... and let's face it, he's only 26... living up to his scouting... with more than 20 goals in 3 of his first 4 seasons for less than $5 million until 2020... Do you think there's another player out there with Kreiders qualities and production for the price? and then would perform more consistently under AV's program? he's the least of the Rangers problems.

I'd rather see Hayes - Miller - Kreider ( who all mysteriously have the AV - IQ syndromes) perform under a new coach, rather than seeing them killing it (us) on another team.

I think most of Kreider intensity could be ramped up by a motivating type coach, Darryle Sutter would get more out of him IMO, he not a screamer like Tortorella but he has a nail the issue on the head with motivating sarcasm, he would turn Kreider into a mini Lyle Alzado without the crank.

So he's 26, and scored 28 last year. Most of the league is full of donuts, Kreider is just ours. So we trade our donut for some else's donut. Our donut, lead the team in goals last year and 32nd in the NHL with 28 goals.

I like the upside of Kreider and can see the future if he's traded... playing like a beast every single game against the Rangers.

Kreider went from playoff stud to playoff dud. Check his last 17 playoff games. It's quite pathetic. He is what he is. Still one of the top 3 net front presences in the league. Take him for what he is. Problems in this order remain the same. One, AV's system is dumb. Almost impossible for most defenseman to play. Two, AV's philosophies are dumb. He doesn't value any stay at home defenseman and thinks he needs 6 fleet skating, puck moving defenseman. Three, Nash still doesn't finish. When you pay a guy that much and he's a 15 to 20 goal scorer, it drags the team down terribly. Four, the organization is allergic to drafting right handed forwards with their top picks. Lack of right handed shots on the team is a massive negative that has hurt the club for years.

There will be some team who probably will be drafting late that will offer up a first for Nash at the deadline. Vermette was garbage and returned a first a few years ago. Nash is one of the best defensive forwards out there and he's still excellent with puck possession. IMO, it's a deal the Rangers have to make. They need to use one of their first round picks on a highly skilled, offensive forward who freakin shoots right handed. The other, a defenseman who shoots right handed but can actually play defense. DeAngelo should have been moved to forward weeks ago. He will never play defenseman in the league from what I've seen. However, I see a talented forward there. Moving from forward to defense, forget. However, I think this is a move he can make quickly.

Don't know who is on Smith's trading list but he's a guy they should also look to move at all costs. Graves needs to be brought up and played. I see Toronto as a possible destination for him. Toronto's defense is horrible. Smith would flourish under Babcock IMO. I think a Smith for Bozak trades makes a lot of sense. Bozak's value is greatly diminished with the new faceoff rules. He is no longer dominant in that area. You could then move Miller to wing to fill Kreider's spot. Bozak could be a stop gap for this season.

Kreider may not be a dominate physical presence every night, but he and Miller are the only ones who are physical presences at all..... ever....

For that, both are untouchable

DeAngelo is a gifted passer, he's very fast and he's a righty shot. I just don't understand why they aren't moving him to wing and letting him learn the position for the Pack. He will not be an NHL defenseman but he has way above average NHL offensive skills.

Just how many games have you seen DeAngelo play? I don't understand how anyone can say he has "way above average NHL offensive skills" when you may have seen him play a few preseason games and the small cup of coffee he had with the big club earlier in the year. "Way above average NHL offensive skills"??? "Gifted passer"??? he's got 2 goals and 9 assists for the Wolfpack in 20 games this year....certainly not what I would expect from a "Gifted passer" with "way above average NHL offensive skills". Maybe he is saving his "way above average NHL offensive skills" for when he gets back to the NHL?? Seems like an iffy strategy to me.

Sure, move him up to forward.....neither of the two teams that had him prior thought to do that....how can they have been so dumb? Especially for a guy who has "way above average NHL offensive skills".

I'd love to see him come up and impress us....but the rhetoric about his "way above average NHL offensive skills" may be a bit exaggerated.
